Converting CotA maps to BftB

Post by Prince of Eckmühl »

Is there a way to do this?

Edit: I can open CotA map files with the AAM extension in the BftB mapmaker, but scenario-maker crashes when I try to open them there.

-I've tried regenerating the terrain tables and map cache
-I've tried renaming the filename extension to .COP
-I'm only allowed to attempt to open CotA map files in SM if I do change the filename extension
-I've tried using the default graphics files
-I've tried using both CotA retail and custom maps

No dice, so far.

So you can use COTA maps in BFTB?

I'm thinking of recreating the COTA tutorial scenarios in BFTB, including estabs.

I think the COTA tutorial scenarios are great, and having played them through so often i thought it'd be a good test to see how the BFTB engine differs. I was about to start redrawing the COTA map using a screenprint of the original as a bitmap underlay, and just omitting detail from the peripheral areas. If COTA maps are importable then i can get straight to work familarising myself with the Estab editor to get the "mod" out quicker then move on to a 1941 Syria/Lebanon scenario!

COTA map, graphics and transposed estabs in BFTB! If only BFTB had Boyes AT rifles in stock A Coy 2/4 Bn might have a chance against those Jerry Panzer II's... oh wait, those are King Tigers!

Not quite done yet.

Good work! I own HTTR and BftB but I don't own COTA so it would be cool to play some of those scenarios.

Hello P of E.
How about sharing Plodders solution please ?

I would also like to know if it is possible to change the color of the text on maps, Black is a bit wearing on these tired old eyes of mine. There doesn't seem to be anyway of selecting text color in MM ?
