Amphibious movement

Post by TedJ »

Hi guys,
New to the forum. Playing ToW 1.7b, Fall Gelb and having lots of fun. However, I am trying to invade England and cannot figure out amphibious movement. I have created an amphibious task group in Caen. When I go to fleet screen, the only options I have for movement is to a sea zone or another port. My question is how to get to a coastal hex as stated in the manual. I moved in to a sea zone thinking I would have that option on the following turn, but I still could not find it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When you move your fleet to the sea zone adjacent to the coast, then go to the map and click at any coastal hex. If landing is possible there you will see small icon allowing you to unload your troops.

Thanks, man. Worked great. I must say I have found this game to be fun and engrossing, with subtle tactics and strategy required to succeed. I am playing Germany in Fall Gelb for about the fourth time. Have quit other games I started as I am trying to figure out how to overcome Russian masses successfully. Also, I play all countries allied with me myself instead of letting the AI try to run them

1. click on the unit activate amp button
2. move to sea
3. click on place where i want the unit to go and poof gone.

If I interpret your question correctly, you're trying to do it all in one move. Can't do that.

Step 1
From a port or adjacent hex, embark your unit in amphib
Step 2
From the fleet in port, send the amphib unit to a sea area where it is a separate "fleet" along with all your other fleets in the same sea area.
Step 3
NEXT GAMETURN! Here you can either attach the amphib unit to an existing fleet (as escort) and move them all to a different sea area
OR
Move the amphib unit by itself into a different sea area (Risky! especially if you suspect enemy sea or air assets nearby)
OR
pick a suitable (unoccupied) coast hex adjacent to the sea area your unit is already in and invade.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite malfunction
