Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Some months ago, arjuna anounced that he was going to post some news about future directions that had anything to do with the ability to edit OOB or making the game more flexible, in order to have a greater scope in terms of scenario possibilities.
Then the new game was released and the number of posts is so large that I can't find anything about it. Was there really any news in what concerns future editions and scenario editing possibilities?

thanks

BFTB includes the Estab editor (meaning OOB/TOE) which makes it something new, since all previous games only included a map making utility and scenario development utility.

Thanks MarkShot. But to what extend does this editor allows one to change equipment characteristics. Will it be possible to try simulating different time periods, like in Toaw, even if not keeping the same precision of representation present in WWII scenarios? Let's say someone wants to make a vietnam or a modern scenario, for instance...

My area of expertise is with the game engine, mechanics, and play.

I've never created a scenario, map, or touched the estabs. So, I cannot really do justice to your question.

However, it is my impression that flexibility in creating other theaters and eras much earlier than WWII or later may be limited. There is the issue of doctrines and how fighting forces fought battles and the impact of technologies. So, it is probably not possible to model linear combat of the ACW or Napoleonic wars, or the impact of helicopters and guerrilla warfare in Vietnam.

Still with that said, there is probable still a great deal that can be reasonably portrayed by industrious players with the tools that are currently available.

you can edit and add what ever you like....the game is restricted by west front WW2 combat doctrines though.
