The "Original" Storm Over the Pacific

Post by jomni »

While replying to the ipad thread in the general forums, I discovered a Japanese game for the DS/PSP/PS2 called Taiheiyou no Arashi... Literal translation is Storm Over the Pacific.

There is apperently a 1960's movie also called Storm Over the Pacific. IMDB link

Interesting isn't it. [:)]

There is also Polish book written by Zbigniew Flisowski "Storm over the Pacific" - the most complex Polish book about war on the Pacific [;)] For me it's like Bible [:)] Unfortunately this book is only available in Polish, so you can't read that. So bad because is awesome.

Ah, so I believe that's the inspiration to the game since the studio is Polish.

We were aware about that classic movie, but never heard about PS2 game.

Not exactly. The true inspiration to made that game was that we have found there is no similar game in the Theater.

And moreover - we spotted later that translated title of Flisowski's book is "Storm over the Pacific", same as our game [;)]

The inimitable ToW player and SoP playtester cpdeyoung must be given some portion of the credit for the title, I believe. I recall possibilities for the game title being bandied about quite liberally, and Chuck tossed out 'storm.' Haha, I think my offer was 'Blood upon the Sands.' Thankfully that was not chosen.
