New game of WAW U2 ( Bono V.) version

Today a young lieutenat came up to me and said: "I have a cunning plan mylord!"[8D]

I just smiled and replied: "you wouldn't recognize a cunning plan if it put's a red dress, dances on pianno and sings, I am cunning plan, I am"[:D]

But I listened anyway... He said now when Italians are in the war they must be vulnerable at N. Africa, they didn't have time to prepare for war... So he preposed a RN med. fleet to strike at Tripoli.

I didn't think it would work (coastal fortress is there), but I gave it a green light. There is not much else to do here anyway...
4 CAG-s II launched an attack and in a daring (deer, dear[:'(]) move we elimenated Italians merchant marine in Tripoli + few subs stationed there as a bonus.[:D]

They really made my day, and perspective of completly losing France, almoust bearable...

Manage to kill few trucks in France to. (one was actually full of stuff from GE France army commander[8D]), he will be pissed...[:'(].

After fall of Paris China and Japan joined the game. Since rjh1971 and cindra are on holidays ( or will be soon ) we decide that this will be one on one fight. I will take control of Japan and kondor will take China/Su. New game will be started once when holliday ends. Reason for this is 2 egos fighting in this game. We drink beer together and we have some disussion how this game may end. So we decide to give it a go. Losser pays for dinner and drinks.

Italian nawy sail out and catch thouse Tommies that raid Tripoli. Battle was firce and Tommies rereted leaving carier and some smaller ships on the bottom of the see. Then Italians retreted avoiding futher combat.

In Norway region we lose lot of suplay. So remaing subs sent out to scout. We spoted this situation and we positioned to attack. Bismarc sail out also.





We attack group of 5 crusiser. We sink them lossing 1 or 2 subs. We miss Ap to attack carriers. Bad situation again. Tommies have initiative again.
France almost completly cleared. I decide that I wont play Establish Wichy card. I wont to take whole France.
Any sugestion about this?
Greece was attacked and 1st break thru was suscesful. Also - Atena was bombed and ruined.

Bismarck!? New BB II building in Hamburg all this time, it is ready?! I heard it's a fine ship and a great threat to our supply routes... I will dispatch HMS Hood with escort at once![:D]

I will gladly relieve your subs of duty... It seems that Germans do not respect life at all. They I fighting like... like... animals! They destroy my ships and it doesn't concerne them that I will have to retaliate and destroy their ships, sailors, captains in return... Don't they value they own officers?[:(] This is a full scale war! Why can't we all be friedns instead?!

It seems I have underestimated Regia marina, Italians do have some BB and we will have to remedy that... Soon...

Bismarck survived, I see that Luftwaffe aet me a trap at Aalborg, so I avoided sending my planes on him... instead I sent a sub II. Something went wrong and I haven't heard from my sub commander again...

But I did destroyed GE 10 subs II, so it was a good turn afterall...

Here are casulties this turn...

Now I can show how the thing looked at the end of my turn 10.
Channel was blocked by GE subs, but some troops manage to find a loophole from Calais.

Illustrious showed up in London (without CAG-s) and I needed to get him to Manchester (where I have put up good AA and ASW defense) or at least north England/Scotland.
Fitted him with 3 CAG-s, scrambled few DD-s and anchored them outside York (not enough range to get in).
At that time I knew that major wolfpack (around 15-20 subs II) was doing blockade somwhere at the Atlantic and hoped for that it would not have range to attack Illustrious that turn...

My troops retook Luxembourg and broke through Siegfried line (that was a uselles move ).

Also few turns ago I decided that main British HQ should be transfered to Manchester (out of the effective range of Stuka DB-s, and a regional HQ was formed in London. All the cities garrisoned ofcourse[;)].

As can be seen Gerries built a lots of SS paratroopers + subs + knowing Goran playstyle I knew he will go for England if I let him...

Now we are in August 1940 (few turns later) and England is relativly safe (from subs), Boston has came online, only Luftwaffe and paratroopers are a threat still...

As can be seen at last post, Kriegsmarine suffered a lots of casulties in subs II (43 so far!). This is my first time that I play WA in WaW scenario so I must have been lucky to do so well against such a good opponent[;)].

Troops in Africa have not seen combat yet, only a heavy sea battles, and I have lost one or two CV-s (I believe 2) but they where old lvl I models...

It is an interesting game so far... And as I will be playing SU&China to and Goran besides GE will do the Japs. the fun will no doubt be time consuming and long lasting...
I hope that nation leaders (Churchill and Stalin) will see the same goal, and that they would pull together and not be fighting each other... [:D]

Nice screensot you have there kondor. And you know my plans prety well. My mistake were that I didnot tray See Lion before attacking France. And I leave gap in Calais ( no enought AP from the group wich was suposed to close this gap[:@]). And after loss of all that subs and 1 landing craft you stop my invasion in its start.  , so keep on going with preparations. Funny game so far. No air battles, no bombing of German or England citties. Completly different gameplay then other games.
 
Last turn - after suffering anather 10 subs, Luftwafe save the day sinking Illustrious and anather carrier and escort ships without loses. Bismarck sink anather group of DD. So this was a bloody battle with almost no survivors. But Tommies still have advantage - 12-15 DDII builded in Canada so far. And some others I dont have info about. So battle of Atlantic has come to a end at this point. See Lion will be prosponded.
 
In S.Africa Italians are bying time to gain some exp and morale. Attack on Cairo was a disater and 4 of 5 LB didnot get back. Italian nawy win a minor victory over Tommies sinking sub and carrier with carier air on. So Tommies retreted to Alexsandria port.
Initial Japan recon showed that West didnot put almost any kind of protection in Philipini and production centers in that part of the world. Australia empty of inf. units. So seems to me that kondor put a mayor efort in fighting the Germans ( did he think that JA will be ruled by less agressiv generals? ). I have a huge temotation to speed up attack on USa. So I wonder what will kondor do? Will he continue to poor armies in S.Afrika ( he knows that Romel is on the way ). Or will he start to make preparations for a war with Japan now that he knows that I will lead them in battle? Did he have enought currage and knowlege to open early second front? When will air battle for Engaland start? Where will Germany goes after conquering the Greece ( next turn, hope so ).
Wichy card didnoit been played - lots more option open now.
Lots of question and no answer for now.
Anyway - great game so far. I hope that somebady is reading this AAR and that something may be learned from my sub mistakes. And I must admit that in a game ws RuffusTFireflay subs begave much better in attacking ships in a port. I sink a number of cargo ships, warships almost without losses. I belive that RufusTFireflay is fealing same as I feal now. So this loss comes to me as a cold shower.

Yes, I certainly am reading it with pleasure.
By the way, regarding not playing Vichy card. I agree it opens up more possibilities - more production from Marseilles, AND makes conquest of Gibraltar, Mosul and Kuwait easier, should you choose to move in those directions
BUT, West will get extra production from Mosul and from Hanoi until or if you conquer them.

I am still under shock that Luftwaffe managed to reach those CV-s in N. Atlantic... I tought that I left them out of range, but it seems that Axis general did some relocating+then attacked... well done!

This turn nothing much, pulled out some more troops from Greece, managed to destroy one of Hoepners LT II near Athen and routed forward Italian unit in N. Africa...

My LB-s failed to destroy unguarded bridge near Milan, and N. France is very well defended by LW... My air scout failed to get back...

No GE subs visible anywhere... Did GE commander forgoe their production? I don't think so...[;)]

As Greece has fallen, we spoted Italian navy near Athens.
2 CV-s with 9 CAG-s II responded... It was a bloody battle and Italians fought well![&:] Their cruisers II put up an umbrella of flak fire wich bring down 4 of my CAG-s[:-]! At least one Italian BB II was destroyed...[:)]

North Africa is getting hotter and hotter. It seems that Rommel has arrived, lots of Luftwaffe, Ft-s and bombers down there. Well that mean that battle for Britain is postponed[:)]

It will be a hard fight and I love a good challange! [8D]

After air attack on Italian fleet Tommies dissapear somever in the see. While searching for them we spoted landing craft. Here is the screenshot of N. Africa region, with location of landing craft. Was this comando raid units? here are they going? Raid on Rome? Or to cut suplay in N. Africa. We will never know.




Also - we provoked Tommies to attack in N. Africa by puting some Italian infantry ahed of our main line. Then Italian counterattack failed so now we have a situation in N. Africa. I wonder will Rommel come in time to save the day.

Japan is preparing for war. Additional production center on JA main isles come handy. Becouse of that JA may tray some new tactics.

Fighting in Med./Africa continues...
Italians caught and sunk my LR landing craft, this turn I did the same to theirs 2 LR landing crafts, 3 DD-s, few subs...[:D]
Lots of Luftwaffe in Tobruk, but we ignored them and continued our push...

RAF had their first larger air victory over France. As Gerries FT-s where spoted, last few turns, in intercept mode I took advantage of that and made one uber air unit[;)]. His Ft-s intercepted and get a few holes on their fuselage, wings, heads...[8D]

Amsterdam was lightly garissoned by drunk Gerries, I have bombed them and followed up by landing into deserted city, so again a red light avenue is working for my sailors and next turn/maybe more, morale will be down among German troops... especially sailors![:D]

On the grim side...few of my LB-s wont be going home... their sacrifice will be rememberd and thier names curved into Reichstag!

Nice move in Amsterdam kondor. Congrat. My garison failed to defend, too many visits to coffe shop and too many smoke. We leave red light district becouse your soldiers leave it infected with lots of veneric diseases when they were pushed out in the summer. So I hope that you will evacuate some of your units to spred the disease in London.

In S. Africa anather blow to comonvelth forces. Units pushed back, decimated. 4 of 5 AC killed. Number of soldiers down. Your sub did a great demage to suplay line sinking 1 of cargoships. Sub comander was smart. He didnot intercept my first testing transfer, but he attck large one.
Romania and Hungary joined Axis. I hope that Finnes will join soon since I cannot find info on exact date when will they come to our union.

Japan is building mostly, using more than 7000 USA suplay. I hope this turn will come even more since I wont produce manny. Our stockfiles were almost full.

Army of Egypt in retreat... Without air support+desert conditions are something to much for now...
It seems that few GE subs have slipped by England, we will have to look for them soon...

Calais and Antwerpen temperarly taken, winter is in France so Amsterdam and those cities could even hold few turns... Basically we are keeping Axis busy.

Germany have problem in fighting all the ships west have in Norway region, but Italian finaly menage to get a decesive victory.
If only I didnot do stupid attack on the British airfiled I may call this the best turn so far.

It was a bad day for a Royal navy in Med.[:(]. I hoped that escort would protect the CV-s, instead CV-s where only thing that where destroyed and the escort run away...
Now the Italians control the Med.[:@] And it seems that a most of LW is in Tobruk, together with a strong paratroopers units...
It seems that Hitler wont's to avoid desert warfare and land stratigh to Cairo, but will not let that happened...

WA have landed in Norway! To bad that Goran spoted my task force turn before so he is prepared, but it is winter time and we are hoping to get some work done before LW kicks in[;)] .
Bismarck is destroyed! Huraaa!!![:D] Subs near Bismarck destroyed! And I got the news that Tirpitz is launched... I spoted another sea unit but not enough recon to be shure... I hoped it was Tirpitz sailing to join Bismarck... And have sent lone BB II to intercept, but it was another group of subs II[8|], and now King George V is on the bottom of the sea to...[8|]
At least I destroyed that group of subs to[:-].

Gerries have another group of subs in Atlantic near Canada, and it is doing a very good blockade... we are hoping that they will run out of diesel soon .

Le Havre liberated[:)].

First turn with SU, and I spoted few very strong SS heavy tank II units, with halftracks, mortars...the works! It is amazing that GE can produce so many subs and still have heavy tanks II... I am hoping that at least LW is not getting much new technology...

It seems that GE is ready to attack SU, will the fight start this winter?

LW finish what Italians started - Tommies have no more heawy ships in Med.
LW attack Mossul with 5 HB. 2 went down ( who to hell keeps a fighter in a Mossul ). Nice move kondor.
Tommies landed in Norway. They stay in hills, they dont have HQ, and it is winter. I belive that caniobalism will appear soon. We ddnot wont to attack. We will do it later.
Attack on Su must not be prosponded. So preparations are underway from the 1st turn. And anather thing mess up with my plans - Finland. They will join me when I attack Su. So no chance that I may send some units to Finland beffore. I wonder how to defend Helsinki.

Japan declare war on China. After declaration I tray to move my units in position to attack, only to discover that 2 art units and 3 land units have 100 Action points and cannot move. So suprise was lost.
Tomies stck in Norway. Lost small air battle over france. Italian advance in S. Africa.
Germany attack Turkey. 1st attack on Istambul was almost win, but some staff refuse to surender.

WA have landed near Bergen during the winter... I have cut of land route to the city and have constantly bring in reinforcements... So did the Germans...
Fights in high mountains where severe... One all out attack repulsed by the Bergen garrison and I wondered would my troops die from starvation or from hunger...
But the Germans where in no better shape. I have repulsed they attempts to clear up the roads.

Last turn I have sacrificed LR landing craft to bring in a hurry one strong (well fead [:)] unit from England)...
Spring time came and I mustered all what I got and ordered one more attack! This time it worked and now we have a strategically important port in Norway![:)]
Germans have dispatched 2 groups of LW in a city south of Bergen (cannot remember the name, one west from Oslo). So this should be interesting...

In N. Africa, Italians and Germans are droven back to the dunes[:-].
Japs carierrs are still out of the sight...

Now I must do Su and China...

Ps. Turkey, when attacked by the GE, should be played by SU player so that troops can evacuate through Grozny, or by WA player through middle east... IMO.
