Question re editor

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

How do you determine the damage a weapon does?I can't figure it out at all....is it a something to do with a mix of the weapons capability and the ammo used? If so what is taken into account...I can't see anything that states how much damage a weapon can cause.

I think that's more of a 'game' concept than a real life concept.

How much damage can one bullet do? Kill one person (barring freak shots)?

How many people can be killed by one artillery round? I guess it depends on how many people are near the impact point- "Hey guys, let's all gather 'round and give big group hug to the artillery shell!"

The game works it out internally.

It's quite a big algorithm, different for things like bullets and shells, which is why shell weight, blast radius, etc is important. And APer/Anti armour routines are completely different as well.

We would have to go through the code and distil out the algorithim.

Of course there are some magic numbers in there, worked out over the years so we get reasonable outcomes, as we are simulating combat, not firing range results.

The info goes under the performance tab, with sub sections for each type of fire the weapon is capable of.

Currently posting from Columbus airport, courtesy of a free internet connection. Haven't got much time before my flight. I'll endeavour to respond fully when I get back to AUstralia.
