Korg thank you for noting the rampant humor im my thread. It's hard to role play a whole fight which is what i was attempting. i tried to note all the key events from my characters point of view. anyway i wasnt tryin to gloat but i dunno to me I'm the rugged futuristic jock in a dark world wear macho bullshit rules among gigantic robots of destruction. hell being a waiter is boring i like to make the fun stuff dramatic.
fire destruction smokey battlefields, all part of the job, but how ever did my cockpit get so smokey?

Well, I think when the hero ToS pilot smokes up a rastafarian storm and has phone sex with his GF while he's waiting for me to de-camp, the tounge is quite firmly in the cheek.
Mind you, I'm getting a bit tired of seeing only two types of piloting among opponents.
#1: Camping among the trees and mountains.
- Must I always take the fight to you, ya lazy buggers?
#2: Rushing headlong toward oppnents screaming "BAAANZAI!" even with Defense/Sniper/Missile designs
- That's stupid, OK.
Am I the only one who likes to dance?
Unfotunately, I seem to be always using assaults in duels. Those fatasses can't dance!

Hey, I've been roleplaying for over a year and nobody has gotten it. There was an assassin in the time of Salah-ah-Din who was the leader of the Hashishans (which is where the word assassin comes from) who used to be called the old man of the mountain
Now does my playing style make any more sense? <grin>
Btw, the story has it that Salah-ah-Din, determined to put a stop to the Hashishans, laid seige to their mountain stronghold. He slept in a tent ringed with guards each night until the morning he awoke to find a knife pinning a note to his pillow. The note consisted of one word....."Negociate". He did

Played in the snow with Tek-69 and Cyavhn. I set the AI to elite and wound up in a Ball Breaker (5 lrm6s 60/60/40/40/40 ammo and 2 PBs) with the AI in an Auto Da Fe (2 PBs 3 Flamers 2 Pulse).
Cyavhn had a Hoodlum and Tek-69 had Rubbler. Fortunately the AI was in the Auto Da Fe and not the Ball Breaker. Game ended when Cyavhn (of nine) ejected (was my bad because I didn't warn him about that)
Tek-69 very graciously conceeded at that point (Ball Breaker was untouched).

actually i was going to eject even earlier, but i broke attack to see if i could swivel to get target lock on the AI. i was in pretty bad shape after being peppered with rockets by ole man of de montan, minus arm and a leg.
i ejected in our first game Hetzer (i`ll try not to get iinto the habit, but i do not like dying) and the game stayed stable. what is the prob, more than two players, AI or what?

Had a good days hunting. Bagged a brace of n00bs (gmrextreme/Rubbler and lobsteve/Immolator) in Polar and added Tek-69/Auto Da Fe (2PBS/3 flamethrowers/2 pulse) to my days catch in the Dungeon.
None of the games did me any credit as I had a Mojlnir (AI/Elite had a Hoodlum) in the team game and I had a Hoodlum vs Tek-69.
I won because of the titan and dungeon draws.
You guys are getting better. Think about the things that I talk to you about (like firing on heat black). You've seen enough of my play now to know that I don't suggest anything to you that I don't do myself. As always, if you have questions about why I do something please ask me. The better you guys get the more fun we'll all have. (did I just say that?)
Good Hunting

Things were going so well for cyavhn and I. Well, half decently well. How about better than average? The problems really started when we got C stuck to the north side of the river dividing the map in half, and then I got caught out in the open between the AI and Hetzer. I got smoked by the AI's AC 20s and 12 a few too many times, so that when I -finally- got cover from it Hetzer didn't have much more trouble punching out my CT.
As Hetzer pointed out we were in trouble from the start as , let's face it, NMs aren't much use in the ice fields. I hit Hetzer a good 15 times with mine and, though it's lucky for him that Titans can't be dropped from laughing, only minor tickling resulted.
In any case, a good time for all. And sundry. And their dogs.
The Not-So N00b (after all, Hezter, I've been around longer than PC...technically),
Lobsteve.

Actually, the original leader of the Hashashin was Hassan-Bin-al-Sabbah. The fellow with a dagger in his pillow was the Seljuk Sultan Sanjar. However, as the Hashashin were Shiite they found themselves opposed to fellow Sunni Muslims as much as allied with them. At times they even allied with the Crusaders - even against Salah-ad-Din Yusuf ibn-Ayyub (Saladin). Eventually they were laid low during the Mongol invasions.
FYI.

Interesting. I really didn't know that !Originally posted by OddjobXL

I only wonder how they managed to push that 40t dagger into a pillow !

i was sort of stuck, after deciding it would be best to lay low. things did deteriorate fairly fast (isn` that the way), but at the end i was able to take out the AI after having the red begin to show on my CT. i think hetzer was working on that specific area too. it ended when i crashed in an attempt to attack hetzer who was seriously close, and me with only heavy mesons and a couple of large lasers to his teslas.

My first netgame victory, sugoi! sugooooi!
Yes, I know, it sounds unbelieveable.
I must admittedly credit Hetzer, for his advise saved me at the last minute.
Since I was hosting the match, I chose Medium titans as my blade of choice. They can still dance, even if they look a little portly compared to the lights.
Things started out bleak at first. I was stuck in some lightly armoured missile titan, totally not my style. However, one has to work with what one's given.
So I endeavoured to find high ground and hopefully fill my opponent full of holes before he could close.
Unfortunately, that strategy went to well, when it turned out that we were both heading for the same mountain range.
Spying my Napalm Missles, my opponent Lobsteve decided to try and stay at a distance to avoid getting flame licked.
Needless to say, his first strike caused a piloting check, which I failed. While lying prone he licked my hide with a couple of medium lasers. Endeavouring to learn from this mistake, I flipped on the shields, and moments later a protective magnetic bubble surrounded my titan.
This was enough to dissuade such foolishness in futre. The lasers never came out again. He was still in good range to pepper my hide with his SRMs, and it was clear that standing and duking it out was going to work in his favour. So I decided to dance a bit and make him work for it if he wanted to hit me.
This worked fine until I ran out of room on my mountaintop dance floor. The ground below was a long way down, and I was in a heavily wooded part. Still, I'm not afraid of risk, so I tried a jump stunt.
Failed, and failed the second time, too, despite a 68% CoS.
It was at that point, when whining to Hetzer about it, he told me the randomiser used for ToS is skewed at both ends, and that skill checks between 40-70% tend to be pretty bad.
I decided to experiment with this theory and instead tried the suicidally dangerous maneuver of WALKING down the slope, which had a mere 25% CoS.
Needless to say, I suceeded. It's at this point that my notoriously bad luck took a turn for the better. My evasive maneuvers had succeeded in heating up Lobsteve's titan while I sustained Minimal damage. At this point I let rip with 28 Napalm Missiles, which caused merry hell and damaged his heat reg.
It took only a couple more blasts to force an engine shutdown, at which point the ammunition explosions took care of the rest. Lobsteve's titan was eventually disabled when the Centre Torso was destoryed, and took the heat reg with it.
By that point, Lobsteve had conceded the match.
