I just did it without fog of war to show the map. Of course it will be in in all angles.

Any desire to make this optional ? I never thought about
playing without it.

i like the more angle the better
on the elevation of hexes, the illusion of either ascending or descending would be a nice touch, perhaps this could be achieved making half the hex the color it is adjacent to

I like the more angle also, but it looks like if you had a tall enough mountain range you could lose sight of your own titan. Not that big a deal, but if you're not paying attention you might lose track of the direction your facing etc...

I also prefer having more angle.

I'm not the best at reading contour maps, so the more help the computer gives me in visualising the battlefield, the better.

Extreme angle looks spiffy, but it's so impractical as to be silly :)

larkin: if you asked me, you should make EVERYTHING optional, but you already know that, the more options the better(aslong as it does not slow down release to much). my opinion.

I can't really imagine playing ToS without the fog of war. I think it would lose something of the fun if you could immediately see where your enemy is. Half the battle is finding him and hoping he hasn't snuck around behind you. :)
We sometimes catch a window
A glimpse of what's beyond
Was it just imagination
Stringing us along?
More things than are dreamed about
Unseen and unexplained
We suspend our disbelief
And we are entertained

I think Fog of War should be optional. This way either style of player can fully enjoy the game.

WFF: EEEEH! guess again. with about 95% chance, the fog of war is still there, you just cant SEE it, line of sight still exists....bah, lamebrain lewser....think before you ask.(sorry if anyone gets upset about this, but i did get upset, since it was so stupid.)

The graphics, they are so pretty... it is neat.

BTW discord. Uh, fog of war hides terrain. That's kinda what it's for. I think it should be optional, but you saying wwf is stupid is kinda fucked up. Especially since ur wrong.

discord how is it stupid huh? theres no sense in having a scanenr if you can see everything right off the bat so whos the stupider one here? (and lets not get into another flame war like the other thread)

I think it would be really nice to be able to choose the angle.
In some ways the flat map is easier to understand but the one with extreme angle is really awesome! :D
Keep on the good work! It's looking real good.

WFF: the game would not function without line of sight, it just would not work, since then there would be any need for ANYTHING except extreme range weapons, the line of sight(and if you have not figured it out, line of sight, and fog of war are for all practical reasons the same thing) is still there.

hmm, although it should be optional(and settable for missions), since a good recon of the area would give rather exact layout....wich btw is worth ALOT in millitary missions....now if you could add in expected terrain, and real terrain, so that you would suddenly find a building in a map and go "HEY! that's not supposed to be there!" and get a possible secondary mission objective....just a idea....

discord: ok so you have line of sight...........but how would you be able to tell if theres a new enemy in the hex that you can't see? because if you think about it one would suddenly just "appear" into your line of sight right? so fog of war is needed to clarify that to make newer players not think the ai is cheating somehow

EDIT: i do agree however that recon is good for a battle but i can do without it as i always wing it to win battles

Scanners are not used just for LoS purposes wff, maybe you should have investigated a little more. Did you notice a scanner has 2 ranges? And you know what visual sight range is? And what scanner links are used for?
And about its settability for missions, discord, the Map Editor provides ways for you to get full LoS.

thorgrim: that would be fog of war, neh? but wichever, never worked with the map editor, so i dont know....just stated something i would find useful, and since it seemed simple to set, it would not be hard to implement if it was not there to begin with.
