Game installed on New Machine...won't accept previous saved game

Post by Rusty1961 »

I have my current game of BTR/BOB installed on my machine in Los Angeles. I vacation in another state and finally got around to installing the game on the rig I have in the other state.

Now when I tried to play the saved game I have from my current game (Turn 90) on my new rig, I have the error messave,"Not authorized on this computer.."

Help.[&o]

The helpful posts thread is your friend.

If you have access to the old hardware/install copy the btruser.dat from the \dat folder to the \dat folder on the new machine.

second edit. Actually, it isn't your friend at all, but my answer above is in the thread even though it's not the same issue.

Just a list of stuff you might want or need.

FAQs

Q: Does the game run on Windows 7? - A: Yes

Q: Why do I get "the users on this system are not authorised to load this saved game" when my PBEM opponent sends me his turn. - A: They probably didn't click the "end phase" button

Q: How do production and research work? - A: See this post for a quick overview

Q: Why does the cursor stay spinning on Vista? - A: You need to get the latest patch. As a workaround you can just save the game.

Q: How do Night fighters operate? A: Get a rundown here (Thanks: TechSgt)

Q: I run v1.00 and it's really slow - A: You need to get the latest patch. There are many performance settings in the Options screen

Cool Stuff

Tuk has created a neat production planner

TechSgt has a word document for the 1943 Allied TOE

more to come...

1. I didn't see the answer to my question in the link you gave me.

2. No, I don't have access to the files on my Machine in Los Angeles.

3. Do I absolutely need access to that file because it won't happen until the first week of September.

You're right - hence my edit. But if you click the link for the PBEM question, you'll see my answer as copied into my post. You need the btruser.dat. It's the key to allow you to access the file, without it, your opponent could access your data. You absolutely need it.

Thanks Harley.  We've started BOB and will pick up with the BTR game in September.
