BTR Intercept Delay Bug for Harley

Post by Nicholas Bell »

I discovered airfields in eastern France and southern Germany with 63 minute delays despite having Allied raids literally on top of them, and other airfields nearby having the correct delay times.

After some experimentation, I discovered the cause. I noticed these airfields are in central Mediterranean weather zone and then realized that I was encountering these delays only when their was no Allied air activity out of Italy. By adding some raids out of Italy (it's 1944) despite bad weather all of a sudden these airfields had "normal" delay times.

While I understand that Radio Activity effect on Axis alert status should not be across the entire map, it is also crazy to have Allied Radio activity in Italy negatively affecting the alert status of Luftwaffe units around Metz, Stuttgart, Augsburg, Regensburg and Munich which are all hit by the 8th AF out of England.

The solution is to have airbases in the zone which could be attacked have their alert status raised by Radio Activity from both England and Italy.

Note to Axis players: until patched, do not station units on airbases south of an east-west line through Heilbronn and expect them to respond to Allied raids from England. This is especially critical for nightfighters since their is rarely enough nighttime radio activity from 205 Group in Italy to trigger an increase in alert status.

Interesting. Radio is supposed to put the sectors onto an alert status. Proximity is supposed to bring them down to 5 minute and 1 minute alerts...

will look into it. I've done enough GUI changes for now, so it's time for some combat stuff...
