ORIGINAL: jomni

This has been happening since HTTR.  I just detach the unit and move them to the back and re-attach. But needs to be fixed anyway.

Since I passed over CotA, I played HttR fairly regularly up to the early part of this year ... and as Jomni indicated, things like this was happening with the HttR engine. I though CotA had addressed things like this where artillery, support or HQ units lead the charge. ... but it could have been one of the other games I play. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been lucky so far and my HQ's have stayed well back from any attack...however I do find my mortars in trouble alot of the time....it has improved since the HTTR and CotA games...

Well, I got mine in the mail Wednesday. After looking through the manual and watching those wonderful tutorial videos I finally played through my first full game. I chose the US side of the Greyhound Rush (I think that's the name). The one with Hutton on the middle of the map. I got a marginal victory with everything set normal. (I'm hightly experienced with the HttR engine so I'm very familiar with the interface)

I did see some arty running up in front of everything else. I don't recall anything disasterous happening.

I also noticed AA units running all over in another scenario I started but did not finish. I think it was the Eisenborn Ridge scenario. I would think AA units should be tied to an HQ unit in some way (unless control is taken over by the User) ... or an armored unit should have it under its control ... IMHO.

Great fun it is. I'm off to another scenario.

By the way, I've always been impressed with the GUI. It reminds me of a 3D Modelling and Animation package I used to use called Lighwave (an animation package similar to 3D Studio Max). That package and this one both have a truly impressive interface ... so clean and crisp ... unlike any game I know of.

Yes, I also had a 'loose' AA unit in that scenario that runs up and down the map a couple of times before it settles on a spot to set up.

Any word from the devs on the progress with fixing these issues? I have stopped playing to wait for a fix for this as it was spoiling the game for me...

I too have slacked off somewhat on my BtfB playing time.  (but I'm still playing Matrix games so its all good )

I sure hope they get the suicical HQ/AA/Arty issue fixed plus, I'll be very interested in them fixing and/or fine tuning the armored combat engine.  In this battle and other eastern front battles (that appear to be in the works or in planning); armor on armor conflict needs to be as realistic as possible.

I would live to face off a US or Soviet armor against the Axis and get realistic results.

(and on another topic ... since I'm here ... I'm going from memory but I think the E&S data on tanks does not have main gun performance ... that would be nice and if its there and I just missed it, please forgive)

I just wish this game had been developed as an East Front campaign. If it was, I wouldn't be playing anything else. I got bored with the Bulge scenarios and frustrated with the HQ/artillery issues after about 3-4 battles and just stopped playing. I'm playing ARMA 2 and HPS Gettysburg PBEM while I wait for WitE to be completed :)

OK, I must confess. My inquiry about armored unit main gun performance is THERE.

If you go down to the bottom Armaments window and double click on the vehicle weapon (in my case, the main gun on a MBT) it will pop a new window with all the ballistic info; then click on the Performance tab. (there's enough info to satisfy most gamers).

Sorry for the oversight. Its great to have this info at our fingertips.

Thanks
