If I may ask . . . where does one get the raw data for making these types of calculations?

I would like to make these types of calculations as well . . . independent of what the game engine may or may not allow.

Same analysis supporting BUR CORPS

As you can see at present my supply net can sustain 1 Div from Imphal and 2 from Silchar and Dimapur

As one of the Divs in this attack is the lightend 17th Div on mule pack and the other is my Burmese Div I feel able to support an Indpt Bde as well but then most of my C47's are ont his route as well

In temrs of Corps troops I have a Regt of Stuarts, a Regt of Mountain Guns and a composte AA Regt

So this is really light on support weapons

I thought pretty carefully about how much force was credible to commit

Getting Dimapur and Kohima full developed would allow maybe another 2 - 3 Divs in this theatre more C47's maybe another 1 or 2 butt hats probably the limit but I only had so many engineering assets

i.e. the max force I think  can sustain out of Imphal even if all bases is full developed to cross the Irrawaddy without a good recieving Air Filed is about 8 Divs absoulute max or 5 or 6 on land supply excluding all corps and army level support troops

Andy,

the "Supply Rating" is based on the number of secondary roads (100), main roads (150), and minor rail (200) that are in the base hex?

Oh, my, with all this maths on hand, I think a full ofensive throught Burma looks like impossible, from the logistical point of view...

PZB was unhappy with a mechanic that a single para squad could stop movement - in strat mode I think they could have !!!!

If a dozen partisans with a few sticks of dynamite each could screw up a rail line, a para unit could nuke one.

On the timescale of this game, that's not really true I don't think.

Sure, you can blow up, say, a half mile of track, but a rail repair crew can lay that much track again in a few hours if its on the ball. They were laying 20-40 miles of track a day when they build the trans-continental railroad and that includes grading, and was done with 1870s technology.

So worst case you might delay a some trains by a few hours, but you certainly wouldn't send everybody back to their original embarkation station and unload them all.

Not while the para unit is still owns that ground. After the para unit is destroyed (they can't retreat unless another unit has established control of a hex side) - yes, of course.

And exactly how many tools and rolling stock do you think a Japanese invasion of Australia would have captured.

Strategic movement of 50,000 men in one day piffle no way !!!

(p.s. yes I am aware I am changing my ground mid argument !!!)

How does the Beta change things for naval bombardments? What would you expect to be different?

Thanks -

I didnt like this one at all...

Stat bombing in China well he started it not me everyone please know that he started it...

Paras at Lashio and a bombardment of Chittagong

You now know what to do with your 4Es...

BTW - were you surprised by the naval bombardment of Chittagong? I would think that as long as the Japanese have any BBs and CAs you wouldn't leave any planes at any coastal base at any Front.

less "nuke" like... at least I haven´t seen such a result in the beta patch games, either due to not possible to happen or players haven´t figured out how to do it yet [:D]

We shall see how it goes

Anyway my tanks keep on rolling forward...

PZB is steadily retreating Rockhampton is now mine and my tanks are afvancing at pace inland

My air has been stood down for a few days to allow his troops to bug out un molested.

I have most of my AF on Naval Attack at present waiting for the (inevitable) attempt to bombard my coastal bases....

In China a Hurricane Sqn supporting the Chinese shot down 17 japanese aircraft so a good day all round
