This Is The Game I've Always Wanted!

Post by tornnight »

OMG.

I've been buying 75% of the space 4x games that have come out for the past two decades. I've never found a game that matches my tastes so perfectly as does Distant Worlds. [&o]

It feels like I sat down and programmed the game myself.

Plus the support [X(] is awesome.

Thanks for the great game. I'll be watching everything you make from now on.

Looking forward to 1.5.

Glad you finally found what you are looking for, and I too feel the same way. Like we have been lost among a sea of averageness, and was rescued by a ship of newness.

If any of that made sense, lol.

Welcome to the forums, make sure to use the search function for any questions, because chances are they have already been answered.

I also highly recommend the thread I compiled with all the mods in one place and has been stickied but referenced here for your convenience.

Hey nice to have you on-board!

Don't forget to make sure you are playing the latest version [:D] but I guess you are as you know about the upcoming patch.

I'd have to agree. I've imagined a game like this for quite some time but technology and someone skilled and willing to program it hadn't been around until now. And it turned out much better than the one in my head. [:)]

I'm quite happy with it myself. And with only a few improvements it would literally be my perfect 4x game. As it is, it is probably at the 90% perfection level. Almost there, but not quite.

Shark7 always brings us back to reality [:D], but you are correct.

However, I am hopeful that Distant Worlds is commercially successful enough to support a sequel, which I am sure Codeforce can achieve a crowning glory is space 4x.

But the 90% awesomeness makes that missing 10% all the more unbearable!

Have to say I am very impressed myself also. I just bought the game about 3 days ago. Was very skeptical of the whole thing and Matrix but, it is an awesome breath of fresh air. Thanks for being one of the few developers and publishers to make a 4X space game these days. Especially one that takes a rather interesting and unique departure from the norm.

So I've owned it for a bit longer and I still say this is by a large margin my favorite 4x game.

I'll agree that it is very good. I think MOO2 is still the best but this one is good too. With some improvements, I think it could even top MOO2, perhaps with an expansion.

I'll just chime in and say that it is on my top 5 4X games after all of the patching. I think with an expansion it'll be #1. I am extremely eager to see what the future holds for this incredibly unique title.

Thanks everyone, rest assured that we have plans for continued support as well as expansions and we very much want Distant Worlds to continue to improve. The best thing to do is to keep giving us feedback and supporting us by telling your friends about the game.

There are a few things that need ironing out and a few extra options needed in the start up I think, but this is my favourite strategy game I've played in years, on par with Alpha Centauri, and that was ages ago [:D]

Developer/Publisher support is excellent too, its a shame the game hasn't got much mainstream publicity though [:(]

I think the only reason for that is the way it is distributed. If it were on Steam, Gamersgate, Impulse, and the like, people would notice it even more.

I agree, the leading gaming websites havent payed any attention at all, either. This game could be raking in a lot more money, and deserves to be! A darn shame if you ask me.
