What is your frontline and reserve situation like?
I think I'm in pretty good shape. My front line isn't as long as it used to be and I have plenty of reserve divisions sprinkled out along the front lines and of course all the Panzers are in reserve too. Bring it on Dave dude.

I am currently playing Axis in another game and I am in mud turns, and I have plenty of infantry divisions in reserve as well as panzer or panzergrenadier division for every 10 hexes or so...and my frontline is longer.
Keep us informed as to how your game is going will you?

Turn 154

Post by Da_Huge_D »

*Drumming* Alright. I think it's time to show some of my second winter-offensive plans. Here's plan for centre, i will launch whole offensive at turn 156.
Because lack of space, i marked only Guards and Shock armies on map. Regular armies are not marked.
So plan is to encircle Smolensk, and continue advancing over Dnepr-river, all the way to Berezina-river. I don't reveal any other details yet. But here's picture. There's also lots of artillery stacked with those guards & shock armies. (Stavka's artillery divisions and some front's artillery brigades) One thing is sure, i have hella lots of steel ready for this offensive. LOL.

Omg, the Soviet hordes stream into Europe [:D]

Good luck, fulkerson, you are going to need it.
And a word of respect for da_hughe d: solid defending in the years 41 & 42, now you harvest the fruits of your hard work.

Still loving this AAR [;)]

Well, Dave has done several turns of his Winter offensive and already, after just three turns of attacking he has rendered dozens of my divisions combat ineffectual.  He's on the verge of breaking through at several points and the worst is yet to come.  I've posted the AAR for turn 159 on my site.  http://65.101.188.183

Dave's Winter offensive is about half-way done and he has come close several times to makeing a really good breakthrough but so far I've been able to plug the holes and contain his push(es). This is a mini-movie showing the movements of the front lines from turns 157 throu 162. Notice the Germans giving up territory in the area around Leningrad and just to the south of there. Dave is pushing the Axis back slowly but so far nothing terribly bad has happened. Knock on wood.

How are you dealing with that seriously serious Soviet buildup in Finland?

RE: Turn 163

The lakes are frozen over and there's nothing to keep Dave from outflanking me and destroying all those Finn units up there but he so far hasn't moved from the positions they are in now.  I'm not sure what Dave's plans are for Finland and the northern front but so far nothing has been happening at all up there.  I'm thinking of giving up Murmansk and retreating all those units in the north to the Baltic states for defense in the later parts of the game ( '44 or later ).  Dave is close to making a good breakthrough in a couple of places and I keep trying to rail some units north to help out but his interdiction always manages to derail most of the embarked/moving units.  I tried to rail two Panzer divisions in turn 162, for instance, and only two HQ units and one Panzer regiment arrived.  His interdiction is visious.  He's losing planes doing that but he's also building many many more than I am so he still wins in dogfights etc.  I was advised to pull the Axis air force back to safety to await the later part of the game and I haven't rejected that suggestion out of hand, I'm thinkling about it seriously.  On the other hand, letting them battle it out now instead of early '44 makes some morbid sense too.  I'll let you guys know what I decide.  I've posted the front lines for turn 163 on my site:  http://65.101.188.183

Where is your tactical advantange near the crim? Why not make use of flooeded marshes around kherson?

it even makes the frontlines shorter...

I admit there isn't much of one to brag about but I wanted to use the rivers and natural blocking terrains.

That's a good idea. I'll do it.

RE: Turn 167

Dave has run out of winter offensive shock advantage ( his shock is 105 and my shock is 100 ) but he has elected to continue attacking.  I think maybe I might be able to contain his attacks and perhaps stabilize the front lines as well.  I took some major losses during the offensive ( I'm down to 36.7K HRS squads ) so I'm not thinking of attacking HIM anytime soon but perhaps after the spring mud season I might look for some places to push.  The AAR for turn 167 is posted on my site:  http://65.101.188.183

Dave and I discussed it and we've come to the conclusion that we have lost our motivation to continue this thing.  We've decided to call it a draw and quit playing.

Sorry to hear. Was hoping to see if he could grind your guys down with his artillery and roll over them. Seems the Axis player gets all the fun in this scenario. [;)]

Actually, we decided that one of my friend will take over Axis side, he is ready to take over the defensive challenge. So this is not over yet !! [;)]

So, the challenge now is to grind all the way Berlin.
Axis can't do much at this summer (43). So it will be pretty much stalemate fronts during summer.

14. February 1943 (Turn 173)

Post by Da_Huge_D »

Here's overall situation at end of turn 173 (Date is 14. February 1943). Note, Roman-numbers (germans) represents panzer-armies.
I'm attacking now in north and Don front, and i'm launching new offensive in centre by Western & Moscow fronts within couple turns...

All the old AAR's are still available on my site. You can find my site here:

http://65.101.188.183

Also, Pioneer and I have started a FITE game as well and you can find the AAR's
for that game at the same site. Here's a picture of my site so to speak:
