SUBJECT: 65th Daitai Readiness Condition.
DATE: Feb 23rd, 1942.
After intensive training duties at Keijo ASW Air Warfare Training School, our 65th Daitai/B(Training) Section pilots are nearby to be ready to be transfered to first line units in Yellow Sea, Korean Straits area. In few days they will be transfered to Pilot General Reserve (ASW) to let other pilots can be trained in ASW duties. The trained pilots will await to the newest IJAAF level bomber Ki-49. This level bomber is equipped with M.A.D. and will improve our ASW task in the convoy corridors.

TO: ADM. ISOROKU YAMAMOTO, COMBINED FLEET HQ. KURE.
SUBJECT: JAVA & SUMATRA
DATE: FEB 24th, 1942
Following Secret War Order number 01 for Combined Fleet our forces have began to landing IJA forces at Semarang (2nd Tank Regiment -XVI Army- like beach head advanceguard force). HIJMS Zuiho CAP have intercepted 3 139WH-3 over IJN warships downing 2 of them. Another enemy aircraft (Do-24K) was downed by Type-0 Fighters from HIJMS ZUIHO.
Near Medan, 2 enemy 139WH-3 flying at night time attacked HIMS KIRISHIMA. 1 enemy bomber was downed by our Flak.
At Medan our forces have completely landing IMPERIAL GUARD DIVISION and XXV ARMY HQ. Tomorrow this strategic base will be in IJA hands. PB SHUKO MARU #2 & PB TAKUNAN MARU #8 was sunk by enemy coastal fire.
HIJMS Hiryu air complement have strike Medan Coastal Bn (6 AM62, 12 B5N2 and 12 D3A1) reporting 59 enemy casaulties.
IJA 3rd Air Division assets (28 Ki-21 and 16 Ki-48) flying from Malaya reported another 71 enemy casaulties from Medan Coastal Bn.
1 dutch PT boat was sunk by HIMS ASAGUMO. She was screening a Semarang Landing Force.
At Makassar our minesweeper mopped up 36 mines.
AT Soerabaja, our 21st Air Flotilla reported air strike over enemy docked ships, with following damages report:
- PT TM-6, 1 bomb hit, SUNK.
- SS S-39, 3 bomb hits, SUNK.
- AS ZUIDERKRUIS, 4 bomb hits, SUNK.
- PT TM-7, 1 bomb hits, SUNK.
2 reparis shipyard hits.
4 Port hits.
Over Batavia, 22nd Air Fleet assets have raided enemy airfield, reporting 5 runway hits (59 G3M2).
A second raid, with 16 Ki-48 from 3rd Air Division flying from Palembang reported another 2 runway hits in the same enemy airfield.
Over Burma skies, our 3rd Air Division fighters reported 12 Blenheim IV, 2 Hudson III and 1 B-26 downed when flying over our advancing forces at Eastern Burma. No Ki-43Ic losses reported. LTGen Sugawara, 3rd AirDivCOM reports several pilots from Fighter Reserve Pool have arrive to fill up 3rd AirDiv fighter daitais.

Naval Search G4M1 reported this morning enemy warships off Port Hedland. At once, 38 G4M1 take off from Koepang to attack enemy fleet. NO hits were reported over enemy ships. The following allied warships were sighted: DD TENEDOS, DD WHIPPLE, DD ALDEN, DD ELECTRA, DD JOHN D.EDWARDS, DD EXPRESS.
(2) JAVA
ML No.432 and ML No 423 were sent to bottom by HIJMS KURI. She was screening landing forces near Semarang at night time. Probably enemy coastal minelayers were the docked ships at this base yesterday.
52 G3M2 strike Soerabaja airfield, reporting 15 runway hits. Our recon flights over dutch airfield reports 50% damages.
Batavia was strike by 22nd Air Flotilla assets flying from Kuching. A first wave with 23 G4M1 and 8 G3M2 escorted by 7 A6M2 reported 32 runway hits. A Second wave with 36 G3M2 reported another 33 runway hits and a third raid from IJA 3rd Air Division with 19 Ki-48Ib reported another 10 runway hits.
(3) ASW WARFARE
Oceanic dutch submarine was pinged and depth charged by DMS W-18 near Makassar. 5 hits or near misses were reported.
A USN S Class submarine was attacked by PB Hozugawa Maru near Kavieng. 7 hits were reported there.
A USN S Class submarine was attacked by HIJMS KARUKAYA off Ambon. 2 hits reported.
(4) SUMATRA
Medan have falls in Imperial Guard Division hands. 1.758 enemy casualties vs 119 IJA men lost. Air close support from HIMS HIRYU (52 casualties were reported after 12 B5N2 strike Medan Coastal Gun Bn)

SUBJECT: Sub War Report
DATE: Feb 26th, 1942
I-154, in West northern Australia coast patrol zone reported one enemy tanker heavily damaged after been torpedoed (1 hit reported) at night time near Carnarvon.

I-154, in West northern Australia coast patrol zone reported one enemy tanker heavily damaged after been torpedoed (1 hit reported) at night time near Carnarvon.
One enemy destroyer was severely damages by I-157 near Perth, but our submarine was sunk by enemy heavy depth charge attack after several hours pursuing our boat. Long Live to the Souls of this courageous sailors. Enemy destroyer was identified like Dutch "Witte de With" by our Inteligence Service.

At morning our forces spotted over the Horizont, enemy destroyers steaming at high speed. 04 enemy destroyers were identified (HMAS TENEDOS, HMS ELECTRA, HNMS PIET HEIN, HMS EXPRESS).
Two enemy destroyers (ELECTRA & EXPRESS) were struck by one 4,7" shell hit, but our forces were severely mauled:
- HIJMS OBORO, 2 shell hits. damage report: 40 system, 19 flood (2 major) and 14 engine
- HIJMS UZUKI, 1 shell hit. damage report: 10 system, 13 flood (7 major) and 4 engine.
- HIMS KIKUZUKI, 1 shell hit. 22 system, 4 flood (1 major) and 3 engine.
HIJMS OBORO was dettached to head northeast to reach Kendari port.
Rest of forces will purse enemy naval forces fleeing from Broome after this port have been bombarded by 23rd Air Flotilla assets.
