Well, not really strange, you just probably left head armor for last, and available tonnage was low, so V was better than D (it's lighter). Head armor should always be the first to be assembled. D should only be swapped for V if you're willing to sacrifice armor in the head for armor somewhere else, which might happen mainly in recons where head armor might be approx equal to average armor. You don't want HD armor to be thicker than CT armor, right? :)

BTW Korg, there's one other trick you still have to master in the factory. Always check your armor mms. When done assembling armor, for each location, remove one mm and check APs to see if they've changed. If they haven't, you have gained some tonnage. Not significant you might say? Remember that when repairing armor, it's the mm limit that is taken into account, not the AP limit. So a useless mm will cost you as much as a useful one. And also remember that location size matters. A few hundred bucks per titan per battle in a rookie team makes a difference.
Don't tell me you knew this cause your Bait can be improved by removing 1mm in the head and legs IIRC, and added to the arms or torsos to generate an additional AP. :)

alright the specifics of the shotgun are as follows: you close in using either run or dodge (whichever will be better for the pilot) and when you get into the ac20s range you fire ONE wait 11 seconds (half reload time) then fire the other making it 11 seconds/per shot which isn't too shabby. now in terms of heat this can go on for a good while not forever mind you but it will last a good while but it is mainly built for more of hit and runs. now the power axe is more of the back up weapon if you get knocked down and the enemy gets to close you can use the power axe mabey knock the other guy down and then make a break for it while the other guy is getting up or just try to blow the thing apart. if you want to change the shotgun go ahead do so but it works fine for me

How far from the target do you usually fire? It takes a lot of running, and you don't have the armor to handle it. And if you need to move while firing, don't forget those +1.3C/sec heat generated by the move actuators, which will turn those 11 secs of yours to much more.

Hmm, I bow before your superior dilligence in the field of titan design.

Actually, I'm thinking of revising the Bait again. As it is it's a bit limited. It would be more versatile with a shield 1 to protect against forest fires, but I'm concerned if the sacrifice of armour required for a bigger powerplant, shield and heat regs is worth it.

Also, which revision of Bait were you referring to? MkIII or MkIV.

(Don't even mention MkII, that was a friggin' disaster. Like the Eagle MkII in Frontier: Elite II folklore)

:) That's more like it. You'll learn that armor isn't everything, though it helps. I was refering to MkIV, which I only checked briefly. Actually I did little else than look at it :)
Don't get fixated on max armor. Systems are good. Other than DCS I mean.

IMHO i like the ac20's best because i don't have to worry about not survivng the next second but having done the damage........besides how many lights have more than 40 armor in one spot besides one of korgs? :D

Jumpjets are grrrrreat. 'Specially on Heavy and Assault titans when you need to get somewhere in a hurry. 12 or so seconds to jump to the next hex sure beats running in 20+. Even better is when you've got enough jump-time for 3-4 hexes. Find a big enough hill and your oponent won't even see you until you're unexpectedly right on top of him.

To sum up: YAY! For JumpJets!

Jumpjets are especially evil on titans which have a really low lock time, GMs, and a convenient hill. Pop up, lock, shoot, go down out of LoS.

Vicious.

Jumping Jack.
Someone was wondering about the hovering penalty. There you go, here's the answer :)

Jump ports are great in hell for smaller titans, you get to move for only 2.0C/sec instead of 2.3C/sec ;) It does make a big difference, since most recons have dissipations below 2.3.

Let's also not forget about evading CC combat.
