Battlegroup withdrawl

Post by kojusoki1 »

In TLD, retreat feature doesnt work (and im not saying about campaign.txt).
Seems, this functionality has been broken in the latest patch, as people haveing previous versions has the retreat working.
Here is the thread - could someone make a patch to patch asap please...

Is BG withdrawal supposed to be working/fixed with the last patch?
If yes, when does a BG retreat instead of disband (does it need an exit location, are there any cohesion/moral requirements)? I started the GC (allied), and all german BGs that were completely defeated were disbanded according to the debriefing screen. I can't remember the other instances correctly, but my last battle after which this happened was on Juno beach. The battle wasn't too short and the AI was in control of the left map side when it`s morale broke. And the sector "behind" Juno should be empty, so why did the BG disband instead of retreat?

Just played another map, the Germans attacked from Le Port Brehay into St. Mere Eglise, i repelled the attack (axis morale broke) and again, the debriefing screen said that the german BG was unable to retreat and was disbanded.

TLD does not use the retreat feature, but it can be turned on if desired by a mod maker in campaign.txt. The problem was if it was turned on it didn't work. The current beta patch "CloseCombatTheLongestDay-Update-55009b-Beta.exe" fixes the feature/option....

I enabled in the campaign.txt, but i did it after playing a few battles in the GC. I thought it was enabled by default and after the first disbands i decided to check.
Just finished playing another battle, and my opponent retreated "in disarray". Are there several possible ways of retreat? And the German attack i wrote about above happened definitely after the change in the txt file. So what are the underlying factors in determining if a BG retreats or disbands?

No, there isn't different kinds of kinds of retreat. Either they do in "disarray" or they do not. If forced to retreat in disarray next strat movement turn they will not be able to move as penalty.

In order for a BG to retreat it must hold an exit VL when their morale breaks and the VL's awarded to the winning side leaves them none on the map.
