We should be able to make one available soon. I'd prefer it was as up to date as possible so let's see if any revisions are required to it first before we do that.

*EDIT* And in case I wasn't being clear I'm thinking at least a week. I meant revisions to the data etc.. I didn't mean like "give me 15 minutes and I'll post one". [:D] I want to make sure it's right and up to date. Give us some time and we'll get it out to everyone.

Well, I can wait a week, specially for familiarize me with the changes on game.

I have only one question, why was made campaign.txt so madly? there is not order on the lines.

I'll have to let Steve answer your question about the campaign.txt. My guess is that there's no way to logically group it in txt format without headers or cells. If you're trying to figure out the bridges data we don't have a section in the workbook to explain this yet. One reason why it's going to take time to put a proper workbook together that we'd feel comfortable making available for public use. And as you probably guessed this isn't the only thing we have going on in our work lives. [:)] And btw I did say 'at least' a week. Sorry it can't be quicker but we'll do our best to make it so.

Are you looking at the file in Windows Notepad?  The file itself is fine, but it doesn't have the exact CR+LF combination Notepad requires to recognize the end of a line.  If this is what you're seeing, try opening the file with Wordpad, go to View.Options and turn off word wrap, and save the file.  Then it should look fine in Notepad again.

Umm, yes, thanks by the info. Thanks usually I edit files with macromedia dreamweaver, it has more options, specially the search and replace, it is better, well on CC there is not too important but on other games, it can save a lot of work.

What is a Workbook and what can we do with it ?

It's an XLS spreadsheet that was created a while ago to help make understanding the game data easier and to have a format that can be used to give additional information about how each bit of data functions. It's not comprehensive but it gives quite a bit of information that makes modding a lot easier. All releases we've done have had them. The workbooks for other releases are available here: http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/

And when we get a Workbook, will it contain a reference-sheet for calculating point-value when we starts to play around with the units?  [&:]

Two weeks and the workbook has not been released. When will it be released?

I imagine because of they patching work they are doing the workbook might see some changes so they are withholding it until it is finalized.

But the workbook does not need anything patched, it is only one tool for edit the base files, nothing more.

Actually we need to wait until all the updates and changes are finalized otherwise we run the risk of incorrect versions being in circulation. Will be a few more weeks at least. Sorry it's not the answer you wanted to hear. We need to make sure it's right before we release it. Please continue to be patient. Thanks.

Nothing definite yet. We'll talk about it to see if the data has settled enough to consider releasing it after the 2nd update is out.

People are really looking for the format of the workbook not necessarily the final data... they are going to change this anyway.

But.. If you DL the tLD workbook most things are the same format.

Changes to fpools.txt can be seen by xe5's posts concerning it's format.

Yes most of the things in TLD are the same, but then some are not, and this change all the data for the other rows and you can screw up real big this way.
It helps a lot, but not as much as a LSA workbook would.

Okay I'd assumed they'd want the final data so they could be starting with the most current version. Was also thinking we'd add some explanations and so forth once one of us had time. But if neither of those things are a concern then yeah I could pass it along at any point. Out of courtesy I want to be sure Steve's okay with it too and will post it once I hear back from him.

Glad I asked:
I still need to clean it up, in terms of formatting and column names. Once that is done, I have no objections.

Steve

There are more pressing issues at the moment so it's going to be a bit longer before it'll be ready. You can take Andrews suggestion of using TLD as a rough reference until then.

One month ago I asked you about it and I continue waiting. I bought this game because it can be fully edited but if I can not make it, well it will be a bullshit and I think that many people wait mods for LSA.
