same thing ?

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Can anyone tell me how this game rates to the others in the series?I have them all started with COI and though the graphics have improved just wondering how much so in this version. One of the screenshots looks like it was taken from "Commonwealth Summer" mod.On a scale of 1-10 for improvments how would you rate this game?

Haven't played much to compare.

But the hybrid purchase point + force pool campaign system may just beat the older games (COI = purhcase point only, WAR and TLD = force pool only)... at least in theory.  I just have to play more to make sure I am correct in this opinion.

Can't really say bairdlander as a) I haven't got much playtime yet and probably more importantly b) I haven't played TLD much what with "my other gaming duties"!

However, all I can say is this was the one I was waiting for whilst 4 other releases came along! So I'm a happy bunny

As a player since 1999 this is the best release ever mechanics and feature wise in my opinion.

I've been wanting to buy The Longest Day for ages (loved CC5) but the forum reports bugs with pathfinding and LOS - shooting through buildings etc.

Very hesitant accordingly on this one.

IMO the best things about CC ABTF was the ad hoc battle generator. Few clicks and play. Very cool - is it in this release?
