RE: A General Note about Aircraft/Engine production

Post by TheLoneGunman_MatrixForum »

I'm very interested in seeing how your decision to produce aircraft with a high service rating will affect your campaign. To my knowledge, you're one of the few that has actually tried to do so in an AAR here. Hopefully for you the advantages in performance and armament will outweigh the increased repair time you may need to keep your fighters in the air.

I think balancing out your orders properly and keeping portions of your squadrons well rested, as well as standing down units when things are quiet to reduce aircraft fatigue will be critical to your success.

It's my belief that many other JFBs are not terribly good at doing the above and resort to using only aircraft with a service rating of one as a way around it.

Whatever you do, please be sure to keep tabs on your Ops losses and post them occasionally!

And good luck!

AAR not dead !

Post by Bliztk »

Well, I went of several days of night shifts, plus other personal issues, but AAR is not dead. I had to choose between more turns, or more AAR post, and obviously I choose playing the game !

I will try to catch up a little bit. I`m sure Harry has maintained the pace in his AAR, thus all of you (the two or three readers I got [;)]), so you will be updated.

If not, the surely excellent AAR is named US Naval College.

Basically we have played until Jan 5th 1942, with a time warp from 14th to 11th december, as Harry (a truly gentleman [&o]), allowed me to redo several turns, because of a WITP:AE glitch (before this actual betapatch newly created TFs had a DL of 0, thus he was able to surprise KB with Force Z + ABDA sinking Zuikaku in the process)

Now I will try to update more frequently. Starting now

Vehicle and Armament Production

Post by Bliztk »

Armament production is unchanged. Currently producing surplus armament points.

Vehicle production is expanded from 72 factories to 150. The average ensures that with a modest increase in mid-42 I will be able to field every armoured unit at full strengh

So ~1 point repaired per month on average for late war models. Interesting if this will continue.

Malaya Operations - Mersing Gambit

Post by Bliztk »

Image

1) Landing at Singora directed towards Alor Star. Reinforced by rail-borne forces from Indochina
2) Main Landing at Kota Bharu
3) Defensive Stand by Allied forces at Alot Star
4) On 21th December Mersing is recconed and discovered weakly garrisoned. 4th ID is diverted to land at Mersing covered by KB and a slow BatDiv
5) After 4th Div is reinforced by two Infantry Regiments, forces take an empty Malacca.
6) Trapped forces at Kuantan try to evade towards Tecumoh
7) Pocket of trapped units at Kuala Lumpur
8) Johore is going to be assaulted by rail-moved units moving from all Malaya.

I think Mersing landing has given me 7-10 days, trapping approx 1/3 of original British forces defending Malaya

Burma Operations

Post by Bliztk »

Image

1) Burma attack starts with attack on Tavoy and Victoria Point
2) Main forces are railed to Chiang Mai
3) A British assault from Burma is repulsed by Thai forces
4) Tavoy forces move to Moulmein to pin the British forces
5) 33rd Division cross-jungle towards Pegu. The idea is British will withdraw towards Mandalay abandoning Rangoon. But if British are not quick, they will be crushed

New Britain and PNG

Post by Bliztk »

1) Landings against Northern PNG are unnoposed
2) A Jake outpost is stabilished here
3) Kavieng is also taken, the defenders are rescued by a fast transport mission
4) Shortlands also is occupied
5) 144th Regiment at Truk is planning to attack here,. Waiting for KB to show
6) Landing planned here after KB unloads at Rabaul
7) A Kwangtun division is planning to attack here. When I have the PPs to release it, I will ship it to Truk to commence the Assault !

Objetive here is to get the short and easy defensive line of Port Moresby - Milne Bay - Lae - Rabaul - Kavieng - Guadalcanal - Shortlands - Munda. A lot of interconnecting bases with Truk as resting place.

No further advance south is planned.

Events from Updates to 11th Jan

Post by Bliztk »

Manila falls, but survivors retreat to Mauban. Two IDs move to finish the defenders. Two Bdes are left at clark while 14th Army moves for a week of R&R at Malaria-free Manila.

Attacks on China: Kweiteh is taken, Pucheng is repulsed. Will have to wait until the two division attack from Hangchow develops to try to encircle the defending units.

In Malaya, the British position is collapsing, and the Northern army is being railed to Malacca to assault Johore.

British units start withdrawing from Moulmein, thus a shock attack is ordered, and the city is captured
