Congrats to our Spanish pooners around.

This was a very tough final and the Spanish team deserved victory.

Sorry to say, but the Dutch didn´t play fair. I ´ve seldom seen such a brutal game and some Dutch players like De Jonk and van Bommel deserved red cards as well. Better losing with fair play than with such a behaviour. Looked liked they wanted to destroy the Spanish team at all costs. Now they ´ve lost both - the game and their reputation.

Frans, Freek - am I wrong?

Fair Play or not?
Both teams played rough, but I admit that Spain was the better team.
All I know is that there was an article in the Sun a few days ago. The tabbloid critizised Van Bommel "unfair" play openly and wrote that the [British] referee should do something about that.
And we all know the reputation of that 'news-paper' (including the referee).... [:D]

The Spanish goal itself was not off-side, but there was a off-side situation just seconds before. And when Robbe outrunned the Spanish defence, he was hold by a Spanish player, who already received a yellow card. Obstruction in the penalty-area = red card and penalty. So.......

Anyway, Spain did win the match and cup. Next time we will give it a try again.

Tonight, we have octopus for dinner [;)]

Cheers,
Frans
