Congrats to Spain. Was crossing fingers for Holland but every other result than a Spanish victory would have been down to pure luck.

Iniesta deserved that goal. [:D]

The Dutch coach said it himself after the final whistle: "The best team won".

And by the way, this was Holland today (the picture). So history owes them a World Cup? HAHAHA! NOT to this football squad... Where is the amazing squad we could see on 2008? [;)] If this is a strategic shift, as I said some weeks ago all I have to say is R.I.P. We have lost one of the last squads which produced amazing football...

Way to go Spain! They completely deserved to win! To be honest I would be a bit disgusted to see the Dutch win after all their tackles and Kung Fu fighting.

Hi all,
ORIGINAL: TulliusDetritus

Oh, and Paul The Octopus has striked again! [X(]

Congrats to Spain! [:)]

BTW, Paul the Octopus correctly predicted all scores he was involved in (i.e. all German games and then the finals)!!! [X(][X(][X(]

The best team won; congratulations to the Spanish players!!!

The Dutch newspapers are screaming foul of all the fouls and I agree. Not a clean way to loose . . .
1 in 64 (2^6) that Paul the Octopus would predict all those games correctly.

It was a very very unsportive way to play from both sides. where the Dutch just went berserk, the "noble Spanish" used less apparent but not less effective ways to play foul.
The game was a shame for soccer. None of the teams yesterday deserved the title.

From what I have read Paul The Octopus will die in about 1 year and half (life expectancy of this octopus: 4 years and he is already 2 1/2). No Paul in Brazil 2014. Or perhaps sooner if the [Argentinian or English or German or Dutch] assassins manage to kill him.

Frank, you're correct, the trophy should be given to New Zealand, the ONLY undefeated squad in South Africa [&o]

[:D] I would feel less pain in my sports heart if New Zealand would get the cup, really. [:'(]

On the other hand the Dutch and the Spaniards might want to apply for the next rugby championship. [:D]

Go diving after a little contact, demanding yellow cards for not happened fouls, stepping on other people feet, etc...
No come on, it isn´t so that the Spanish are angels...

They go diving in the same way another team (ie: Germany) would have done on this situation.

With all the fouls they suffered, I can hardly remember one time they claim to not happened fouls.

And talking about stepping on other people feet...well,perhaps should they do the same as De Joong with Xavi Alonso and go to the chest ?

Oh, man.

Spain tried to play football since minute one. They do fouls. Sure. They get well deserved yellow cards, yes, but don't go to the player, but to the ballon.

As a matter of fact they were playing as hard and as unfair as the Dutch but not so openly brutal.
Take off your Spanish glasses and watch the game again from a neutral point of view.
