Math question on research

Post by Chris21wen »

An energy lab has 4 x EL 200 Lab. Each lab outputs 8 research points therefore total output of base before bonuse is
4 x 8 = 32

Its parked around a neutrn star +200% bonus
The human race gives a further +11% bonus
There are no other bonuses that I can see

Therefore total energy research for the base is
32 + 32 x 2.11 = 99.52

Problem is the research window tells me I have 58K for that base. I assume that the energy base is not working at full capacity which is refleted it the Max potential/Actual output figures for Energy (499/146K).

If the base was then would the 58K be 100K rounded?

With what government type?  If it was Feudalism or Despotism then your get a -25% research negative.

Human Bonus is 15%
Feudalism / Despotism is -25%
So overall research is at -10%.
This is additive, not multiplicative. If it were multiplicative a player would have a -14.75% penalty or when getting a 15% bonus human and a 25% research bonus from democracy instead of 40% overall the player would have +43.75%, but you actually only get 40%.
Therefore total energy research for the base is
32 + 32 x 211% = 99.52

Okay in this Math, where did the second "32" come from or rather why are there two "32"s in the equation?  You only have 4 labs at 8 units thus 32 units of research. The Neutron Star doubles it to 64 units, before overall benefits are added.

With a -10% penalty you are at 57.6 for the Base. Rounded up to 58.
With a 15% bonus of Humans while not a Feudal or Despot empire then you would get 73.6

The site bonus is applied first, then Empire Wide.

It's a monarchy which has no effect on research.

I missed the decimal point out, the maths should have said 2.11, I don't use a % key.

Not how I understand it a 100% bonus would double it, 200% triples it.
