Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Is it likely for a Staghound with a 37mm gun to destroy a Stug 3's front armour at 450m?

I lost my Staghound and a Stuart V to the Stug in my first battle. The Stuart V must have fired 10 shots at the Stug's frontal armor. All of them went BOING!

Were you playing as Germans? If so, it sounds like maybe the AI is cheating a little to compensate? [&:]

Gary... this question has arisen before and consequently i spent many hours testing shootouts.

Statistically there is no indication that the AI is cheating.

I cant see the ai cheating or having a reason to when it outnumbers me 5-1 and still loses.Im in the night time phase of starting scenario's in GC.Basically as the Germans,I set up my defence's,watch the ai run into my mg fire, retreat and wait for the timer to run out.Its the same thing in daytime,in some cases I have 2 mg's and 1 erstatz group and hold off 10 Allied sections. As I stated earlier there are all kinds of VL's that I am nowhere near and unguarded and ai does same thing everytime, rush at my mg's.

Here is another instance.A lone Irish soldier running in a straight line down the middle of a street in broad daylight being shot at by 2 mg34 teams and a command team of Germans with clear los and the lucky Irishman dosent get a scratch. He takes the vl and runs back where he came from and lives.[:D][:D][:D]

Didn't the Stag have a little john adaption? When the StuG III(Mid-late) had 8cm solid armour, a round could still hit a weak spot, or just cause enough spalling on the interior maybe to spook or injure the crew or maybe set something alight.

Tech alot can happen in the seconds a round hits a target, and most of it isn't pretty. Which makes non-penatrations brings about many a thank the various gods from the crews.

Sounds like the sentry guns in the second "Aliens" movie!
