Graphic Problem

Post by AlanBernardo »

I have XP and use an nVidia card, 8800GT.

I have the latest patch and the latest beta installed.

I'm getting some graphic problems, there up at the top, circled.

Is there a fix for this or can I do something to get this to display correctly? I did install one of the scenarios posted here, the 1792 one. But it didn't over-write anything. I run a widescreen monitor (96dpi) at 1680x1050.

This happens with all scenarios.

Thanks,

I had the exact same thing happen to me when I tried the 1.08.02 Beta for the first time. I reported it as Mantis 702, but after the first time I ran 1.08.02, the problem never re-appeared again. I'm not sure what happened to fix it.

It must be an issue with the beta.

What I tried was to start a new game, save it, and then reload. When I do that the anomaly is gone for that session at least, no matter if I start a new game or not. But exiting and then restarting a new game brings back the problem. The only way to get rid of it, is, as I said, to load a saved game, exit out, and restart a new game.

Very odd. :)

Thanks for your help,

Yes, this is VERY odd??? I've tried everything in the book to make this happen and cannot???
If you guys come up with a reliable click-by-click on how to dupe then I will check it out...
Thank you

Marshall,

All I know is that I can replicate this thing over and over. The first thing I do when I start a game is load this saved file (which had the graphic issue when saved). After that, no matter what I do, the anomally is gone. If I try starting a new game without first loading this saved game file, the issue is there and will continue to appear until I load the saved game file.

But once I exit out of EiA completely, I must load the saved game before things look as they should.

Not really that big of a deal (I'd say that Oil Spill in the Gulf is a more pressing matter for the world.), but bothersome nonetheless. :)

Marshall,

It's just a saved file I generated. I started a game, then immediately saved it, to see if it would make a difference with the graphic problem I was having. As it turned out, it did make a difference, changing things to the way they should be. Once I load that file, the graphic problem disappears, no matter what I do for that session. But once I exit the game, to keep things as they ought to be, I have to load that saved file.

Odd. But maybe it's just something with my system, and this only happens to me. :)

Nope, there is another that was having the problem. There must be a similarity between systems???

So, you're saying that you start the program then start a new game and it shows the problem?
What kind of game (PBEM, solo, etc)?

Thank you

It's a solo, single-player game. And yes, starting a game, single-player, no matter the scenario, and the problem appears. Load the saved game and the problem is gone, until next time.

Well, if only a few are having the problem (or a low percentage)then there's no reason to spend a lot of time fixing it. It may disappear of itself with later builds.

What I would like to see is true widescreen support. :)

I know! I did not do a very good job planning for screen sizes early on!
