Discount for Beta testing

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

We didn't always try to think of crazy combinations of key strokes that might cause a crash, but perhaps we should have.

Yes. You could have focused on the new functions at least. One CTD is being triggered when the player issues a bombard order. That's not a "crazy combination", nor a new function, though.
.....Very few of us manual players really played the game to break it - we were more interested in play balance.

Well, if you don't have enough testers, then there's always the possibility to let Erik call for additional volunteers say 1 month before the final candidate is planned to be released, and have this group play and "rape" the game in - what I'd call - a beta stress test.
Adding a function to the error message window, which would give the player the opportunity to enter an error description and to send that error report (via http) to Panther, shouldn't be a tough job.
.... PG just doesn't have the resources available to go back and manually retest every scenario after each build.
....
The game was released when the scenarios were playtested to the designers satisfaction and the autotesters and the manual testers reported no critical bugs or crashes over a period of several days.

Well, with the level of anticipation for this particular game, it wouldn't have been a problem to expand the group of testers temporarily (as I outlined above), most likely. The actual testing of critical and basic functions was insufficient.

Goodguy, focusing on the new UI functions and using the bombardment order is not what I mean by crazy keystrokes. We broke those functions many times by deliberate actions. I mean there are hundreds if not thousands of combinations of functions and keystrokes during the course of a game, and we didn't always concentrate on breaking the game while playtesting. Not making an excuse here, just clarifying.

Who comes on board and who doesn't is not my call, nor is it entirely Erik's. Believe me, Dave and Paul have their hands full responding to just the issues that we find.

So to sum, you assert there are too many key combinations, as I quote you; IE panther games, hasnt the capacity to test and insure the game is bug free?

Really, lol.........in fact LOLLLLLLLLL...no one rationally can dispute the fact not everything cant be tested to prefection...but this product WAS advertised and being sterling. The company in question as asserted by various individuals produces the Farraris of wargaming. I just cannot as a rational and discriminating customer of the products I buy help but find all of this so very very ironic and amusing givin the discussion regarding the price justification thread.

I believe the (rather silly) Ferrari reference was with regards to the capabilities of the game engine as opposed to its reliability.

I'm not at all surprised that there are a few bugs in this game. It's not unreasonable that a few bugs slip through when there's two developers and a handful of QA. AS long as they fix them I've no complaints. It's hardly the end of the world.
