Sure enough, less than 6 minutes into the game the German morale breaks and the battle is over. I lost 4 out of 5 men from my HQ platoon behind the mortars to the flak 38. Those are my only casualties. I didn't loose a single soldier in battle for the house at the center of the map. The Germans OTOH lost 16 men. Not sure where their MG 34 was or the Zugtrupp. But I knocked out the flak 38 and 3 ersatz teams probably. My ending position isn't all that great but I expect the next battle will be a cake walk. I didn't really learn much of anything valuable in this battle. My tactic was to simply feel my way around the map since I had a 60 minute timer. I only needed 6 minutes, however, before it was over. I did learn that in any even match up, US paratroopers will almost always win hands down. The germans just don't stand a chance on an equal footing unless they have a flak gun or tank. [X(]

Hey Gary.  What are your force strength settings on for you V opponent?

Just curious thats all.

Your playing a 60 minute timer?  You should think about shortening that mate, thats H2H territory IMO.  Try 20 minutes.  Probably a little more action in that especially from the AI toward the end.  Not saying it will act, but.......;-)

Check out the gliders when you get to those maps which have them on them, they should be up soon in your GC....errrr, I think anyway.

You probably learned this already based on sending your sniper to the NW VL but snipers can not capture VL's....

Off topic: Yup, I noticed this but the snipers can at least 'scout' the aera and maybe even get some nice houses and shoot [:)]

Garry, thanks for this AAR! I see you have struggled a lot like myself. So far I enjoy playing it as allied but fear that playing this as germans will give me a hard time [:)]

My force strength settings are "line" for both sides. As far as the timer, I don't think I can change the setting in the middle of the campaign or is that possible? With hindsight I probably should have used maybe 30 minutes tops. However, most of the time the battles end early anyway when force morale drops below critical.

@ berndn & Tejszd: I had forgotten about snipers not being able to capture VLs. However, it looks like the VL in the NW corner was conceded to me anyway when German force morale broke.

I'd been meaning to ask you this, so thanks for indicating your settings. And you're right, you can't change the force strengths or battle duration once the campaign is already under way.

I was playing as the Germans with both sides as Line with 15 minute battle duration. I just finished wrapping up the campaign with the 0000 battle on the 20th - just two days I guess. No idea how I managed with some of those rubbish battle groups you'll start to meet later in the first day.

Thanks again for these great AARs. It's a great pleasure to read them.

Only if you have to and would abandon the campaign otherwise.
