Totally new scenario

Post by Uxbridge »

I've been toying with the idea of a brand new scenario, without any connection with already existing ones. This far, I have failed utterly, with the game crashing, locking, freezing ... whatever.

So, if I open the editor and choose "new", what will then be the minimun things required - what do I have to do - for the scenario to actually opening when I try to start it from the scenario list? I have tried several different ways, but once I save and leave the editor, I can't open the scenario or go back to the same scenario in the editor again.

If this question is to complex at this time, just tell me to wait, but some ideas would be nice.

I'm attempting to create a new scenario also (2nd try)

Take a look at this thread:

MAP.SOP

And this one:

Oh, I should of course have read the other threads before I posted this.

Nice to see you at it, AH4. Seems we have done almost exactly the same things, trying the same different approaches. Since you seem to be more into it than me for the time being, I will await your results for a while before trying anew.

I have just patched. See whether that will make any difference. [:)]

I would encourage you not to wait on me, last time I was anxious to see the map in the game before the scenario was complete. This time out I going to be virtuous and have patience.

No luck with a new scenario yet, AH? I've tried to start with an existing one, then changing it, but it takes so long to alter everything.

It is a challenge anyway you approach it.

As for my project I have begun play testing and fine tuning.

That sounds great. But did you manage to start one from the absolute zero?

I've tried to make one from scratch, but everytime I leave the editor, the map redraw itself into some odd, almost pre-set pattern.

I've tried to make one from scratch, but everytime I leave the editor, the map redraw itself into some odd, almost pre-set pattern.

I started from scratch - Open Editor > File > New - generates a 100 x 100 grid of all Sea(0) terrain.

I hit quite a few snags but had no problem drawing my map, except sometimes while trying to scroll I didn't hit Ctrl first and I made inadvertent changes.

I also moved the Editor out of the game to allow myself to control the default save location and for precaution I saved to 2 separate folders with different names.

It might not hold true but it seems to me that as for zooming and scrolling The Editor is more responsive when the terrain tab is selected.

Annoying, to say the least!

I've tried everything, but as soon as I leave the editor, my efforts are wasted for some reason or another.

I don't supose you can send me that scenario? The map size would serve me perfectly and maybe I can start from your work, modding from there, instead of using the scenarios in the official game.
