Force Morale on Bridge maps

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Force Morale on Bridge maps

Post by stolidog »

Playing a GC with force morale on, line vs line, appears that when the battle ends due to force morale on bridge maps, and if the allies have not taken the bridge vls and if there is still time left on the demo clock, the remainder/balance of this time is transfered to the next battle on this map.

Eg, was attacking St odenrode, line vs line, germans get 10 min to blow the bridge, battle ended due to force morale before the allies could grab the vls with about 4:50 min, next battle the allies had about 5:10 left to take the bridge. This seems reasonable, if the battle ends due to german FM the allies should get the balance of the time the next battle to take the bridge before demolition.

However, went back and played another test operation, this appears to happen as well even if the germans cause the battle to end due to allied force morale, and even if Allies get kicked off the map, when they come back to attack again they had the balance of time left. Not sure about this, seems like if the allies attack a bridge and are forced to retreat or regroup, any time left on the demo timer should go to zero in favor of the german player, The element of suprise would be gone and give the germans the time/option to blow the bridge while the allies reorganize/regroup to try and retake the bridge.

Granted this will probably not occur very often on maps like Son and best where the timer is short, but could make a difference on the bridges that have longer time limits.
