It has been requested but whether it will happen is another thing. The information required on Unit Location etc is apparently difficult to obtain especially on the Japanese side.

i for one would love to see this mod! I've stopped playing for a while; i dont have the heart to restart and play through the early months anymore.

I think it's the time required to gather the information that's the stumbling block currently. However we can live in hope.

I tried letting the computer play itself to get up to May 1, 1942, and see what happened, see if the situation was even close to what happened in our timeline.

In several cases the situation was reasonable and plausible
- in one the Japanese had taken Baker and Canton islands, and were readying an assault on Pago Pago, while the Americans were gathering forces for what looked like an assault on the Marshall Islands

In another, tho, all of the Allied carriers were patrolling the Indian Ocean north of Perth, while the Japanese had 2 mixed infantry divisions headed toward the Aleutians with 4 of their fleet carriers.

At that point I decided the computer went schizo playing with itself.

They had that scenario in the old WitP so they must have the unit locations.

Well, that scenario was wildly ahistorical. Problem is, there just is not enough information about unit locations, base sizes etc. outside South/SW Pacific especially on IJA/IJN side.

One could try to make the scen, but it'd be mostly guesswork.

If anyone has NikMod scenario 145 from Vanilla WiTP that would be a good starting position. That would at least give a basic frame work around which to build a GC starting on 1/5/42.

A 5/42 game start with even best guess deployments would be fine for me [;)]. But then i am easily pleased.

sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

Amen. That's all I want - so I can play the Japanese. I'm not capable (nor have the time) to plan and execute the invasion of the DEI.

Not so much no one wants to do it Andy. I wouldn't even know where to start using the editor as I suspect a lot of people don't. But if there were some guidelines I'd be interested in giving it a go.

Editor use is actually the easy part - but if it is stopping some - they can just use EXCEL. List out all the units, their starting locations and their equipment. Then those who are more comfortable with the editor can transcribe into editor format.

I would be too afraid to use the editor - but I'd be willing to do any manual labor - such as filling in an Excel spreadsheet.   Big question - How similar is WITP and AE with regards to units?  If I use the May 1 '42 scenario from WITP (I think it was one of the "Nik" mods?) and simply look at all of the unit locations on that date - is that enough?  Or has the ships/troops/planes/etc. changed drastically from one game to another?  Am I making any sense?  Is it that easy but just tedious?  If so - I'll do the tedious part.  With just a little help as to what to do - I'll be happy to do a lot of leg work.

thanks,

In that case we need to start with some easy stuff. If I remember rightly DD Sims and AO Neosho are already enroute from Noumea to Port Moresby. The 2 US Carrier TF's are making their way to the Coral Sea to intercept the Japanese Port Moresby Invasion Force (Opertaion MO) and a lot of stuff is already in India after the British retreat from Burma and reinforcements arrived via Aden. If I can think of some more I'll put it here later.

I already have those details, what is needed is the detective work of smaller ships. If interested PM or E-mail me.

There are definitely Support Ships already stationed at Noumea and Luganville which will both need building up as they were IRL to support operations in the SoPac. Noumea in particular as it undertook some repair work on damaged ships.

I can help w/spreadsheet stuff. Can unit info and location, ship info and location, etc., be dumped out of the original WiTP in some sort of spreadsheet format, or even CVS format?
