Ok, so Matrix is soooo perfect it can't have or create issues. Please. No program is perfect. With all due respect, this is lamest 'I wont use Steam' argument I heard all year.

There is some logic to it.

Since any game in it's original form doesn't need an extra, external program to run there is no need to add extra potentially troublesome software to it.

There's really no need for Steam or other DRM. However, their publishers have convinced themselves it's essential.

The mentioned issues were created by Steam. These weren't problems inherent to games. I don't want anything non-essential that may add issues to be in games that I buy.

It's only a matter of time before the hackers start hacking & stealing accounts.

Evidentally this has been a big problem in world of warcraft and some other MMOs. I believe one company actually got hacked so bad that a truckload of logins were stolen.

So those of you with Steam accounts better keep all your protection up to date. Be paranoid of keyloggers and such. Also phishing.

This is just good advice in general. Hell, in the past few months Battlefront's site has been completely taken over by hackers, and Digital River had an affiliate program (I think that's what it was?) hacked in to as well.

I bank with Bank Of America and I received a notice from them not long ago saying that they had been hacked. I forget how many thousands of people were involved, but that's not a gaming source. It's a major banking institution. Anyone that has credit card information belonging to clients is at risk of hacking.

A double protection with places like Steam is to use the PayPal option for purchases.

Steam as a pain in the ass when you forget something, but it's superb for obtaining patches and updates. Still buying box games every now and then.

Every time I open up a thread and see that it's another Steam thread, I pine for another spambot thread wanting to sell me cheap ginsu knives. At least it's something different every time.

How many logins actually fit in their standard login-shipping sized trucks? I mean, if they use something like a Ford Courier for hauling their logins around, that may not be as bad as it sounds. But if they normally use a tractor with double or even triple 28 foot vans, that may be a real bad thing!
