Minor thing - Not sure if it's been asked or reported but in the device tab, units that still haven't arrived show in the # of active devices but if you show the history of the device no unit that hasn't arrived yet shows up (at least that's all I can think of to be the cause the problem). IE say all my arrived USA Inf devices have upgraded to the Inf 42 device, the device tab says I've got 200 active Inf 41 but when I go to the pool history no units show because the units that still have the Inf 41 device haven't arrived yet. I'm not sure which way would be best to show them [&:] maybe just as it is now or if the unit should show when bringing the pool history but w/ the delay listed so as to know the unit is still due to arrive?

I'm looking at the code and I only include active LCUs in the Pool History. I'll need a specific example to follow up on.

I've seen it for several inf types (USA, USMC, OZ, IND, etc) so I assume it affects every device to some point or another, too many to check each one but have been watching the Inf types so as to get them fully upgraded & the only thing I thought could cause this situation is units not arrived but having an older device type which would then upgrade when it arrives & the proper conditions are met. I've definitely gone though the USA units to see if all Inf have upgraded & all the ones currently in play have yet the pool says I've got older devices active yet no units have the older device. It's minor so no problem dealing with it.

I've seen the same, it seems that when the last of a give device is upgraded, there will remain a number in the 'active' column.

Bingo! I now see exactly where I went astray. Now to figure out how to fix it...

When I try and load a new save game it says that 'Turn 1 has already been loaded.' How do i load turn 2? When I select Read Turn, none of my saves come up to select. Any help please.

Are you sure it's really a turn 2 save? You (and your opponent if PBEM) need to both execute an End Turn on turn 1 for the turn to become turn 2.

Thanks for the quick reply. It is definately turn 2 :)

However after closer reading of the help files on your site, it appears that whatever my save game file name is in the Properties file has to be the same name to load. So my first turn was wpae022.pws and my next turn was wpae025.pws. However the name I supplied in the properties file was wpae022.pws. So if I read your help file correctly, I would need to name the next turn's file name to wpae022.2.pws in order to get it to work, correct?

Okay, you have two options: Do what you suggested and rename the file to have the same "base" slot name or you can use the "All PWS" option in the multi-turn read function and then (carefully) select the desired file. I say carefully because it will show you all games that have turns which could be loaded (only from the same scenario) and you could load from a different game if you're not careful.

Ok it turns out that the next turn file name has to be EXACTLY the same name as the one in the properties file. When I go to multi-read as you suggest, NONE of the save games appear even with the pws box checked. I can send you a screen shot showing that the file selection screen is totally blank, even though I have two saved games in the Tracker folder.

It doesn't need to be exactly the same name. The Multi-turn read pop-up is for selecting a folder to look for save games in; not for selecting the save game itself. So select the folder the save is in and then another window will pop up showing you turns to select from.

So you mean that I have to read what is written on the buttons in order to make it work lol. That's a pretty crappy design :)

What do you know it actually worked too. Thanks for all the help in overcoming my inability to read, lol.

Next release we replace all of the button text with hieroglyphics, so you'll soon have a good excuse... [;)]

WitPTracker AE Release 1.6 Available

Post by floydg »

And speaking of the next release, not to steal any thunder from the newest game patch, here is Release 1.6 of WitPTracker AE.

In four months, we managed to get a lot in. Of course, we do still have a lot more to add, but this should make the bean counters out there happy for a while. We still have quite a queue of feature requests from people and we'll start getting those in next.

The release can be found here.

New Features:
[*]AirGroup fatigue shown. There is no upgrade for this, so each group starts out with a fatigue of 0, but the next turn loaded will set it appropriately.
[*]Tonnage shown in Sunk Ships tab
[*]CSV export added for sunk ships, LCU production
[*]Last 3 turns filter added to the Intel panel
[*]LCU Panel shows base load for a unit
[*]Base Panel shows maximum troop load (DB is upgraded to get this from PWHEX.DAT) and current troop load, plus filter to show bases which exceed. Also shows fuel at the base.
[*]Aircraft Panel and Aircraft Comparison Panel show gun value for each model
[*]HQ restricted status for LCUs (DB is upgraded to get the data). This is currently not perfect. Also shows "(R)" next to restricted HQs and in the details section shows how the HQ is restricted (perm, static, temp)
[*]AirGroup Panel sorts models in drop-downs
[*]Lack of supply for LCUs not counted for LCUs embarked on ships.
[*]Window menu added to set the main window to remain on top (or not).
[*]Initial regions are all "Japan" when you start a new database. So now you have to manually set or import. Enough people complained that our heuristic wasn't good enough and since it wasn't really easy to fix, we just took it out.
[*]Ship Repair delay shown in Ship Repairs panel. Alert added when repairs are completed.
[*]Ship Production panel added summary table (Japan only), Allies have a checkbox to remove Soviet ships, cargo capacity was added to the details and a tool-tip was added in the summary table for factories repairing/not building.
[*]LCU Production panel added overview table and can accommodate wide screen.
[*]The Ship Conversion tab in Ship Upgrades panel can now show ships scheduled as reinforcements.
[*]Ship Panel shows the Ship ID (to help in export to CSV).
[*]Ability to turn off the map. It was found that the map is a big memory and start-up time killer, so now you have the option to turn it off. In the command line, add a string "nomap" (without the quotes) at the end. See the new WitPTrackerNoMap.bat for how it works, or just use that one instead.
[*]Some speed-up attempt was made for starting up. I only did this for ships, in case it was made worse. My simple testing looked good, though. What it does is every five turns, it creates a "checkpoint" in the database so that the loading only has to go back at most 5 turns to get the latest information (the former method went back to the first turn loaded, if need be).
[*]New regions file for DaBabes mod. This was done quickly, so there may be errors.

Bugs Fixed:
[*]LCU history shows supply properly now
[*]Falsely reported sunk enemy ship removes the original alert saying the ship was sunk, but the falsely reported alert shows the turn it was originally reported as sunk.
[*]LCU upgrade objects properly updated.
[*]APA included in the AP filter in the Ship Panel
[*]Error inserting saved sunk ships fixed
[*]Map search arcs that have more planes than degrees to search stop when the arc is supposed to end.
[*]Aircraft R&D for the other side no longer alerted
[*]Pilot comparison in turn loading cause the program to hang sometimes
[*]Read turn progress bar goes in order now
[*]Engineer computation for LCUs fixed
[*]NullPointer exception errors in Ship Repairs panel fixed
[*]Import regions function updates Summary and Map Panels
[*]Device pool active count when all devices have been upgraded should now properly show 0.

Known Issues:
[*]Nothing else new

Enjoy it!

Thank you very much. I wish our corporate IT dept had such fast turnaround!

You asked for it just days before the release. If you asked me back in April, you would have waited 3 months... I guess that still would beat most IT departments... [;)]
