Completely stupid question...how do I assign computer controlled areas?

Post by LoBaron »

As the title says.
How do I assign areas of operation to the AI? [&:]
Wasn´t it somewhere on the strategic map?

I will probably whack myself over the head after hearing the answer.

Thanks!

I believe this feature never made it into AE, but it's in stock WitP.
If you gained knowledge through the forum, why not putting it into the AE wiki?

This function never worked properly, it seems that this was the reason for not including it in AE.

Main issue stated was that it didn't work with new AI.

Shame that it doesn´t work, on the other hand it does not make much difference.

however,
the "Quiet China" scenario works fairly well if you would like to relegate that theater to the background.

Agreed on the "Quiet China" scenarios. I am currently up to March '42 playing Scenario 7 and China is blissfully holding its own and has become a big bloody near-stalemate without any tinkering from me. I'll order up a shock attack now and then to keep a railway line open but not much else.

I keep an eye on that area though, just in case the AI stages a breakout, but as long as it's effectively a stalemate, tying down Japanese Divisions that could otherwise be rested up and used elsewhere, I'm fine with that. My focus comes from dealing with the naval and air aspects of the game and only enough of the ground portion to conduct amphib invasions to secure new bases or defend against them. That's where I get the most enjoyment from this excellent game.

If I only had the amount of "free recreational time" that I had 10 years ago...

Of other things that never made it into AE, what ever happened to that scenario where you could fight over the DEI - Malaya - PI?

It was a gem of a scenario, especially for those who wanted to get the feel for the opening turn without cover the entire war in one go. I used it as my confidence builder and was quite shocked to see it missing from the AE line-up.......
