Usual external download of 1.30 patch, please

Based on Slitherine’s popular tabletop wargaming system by the same name, Field of Glory now comes to the PC in a faithful adaptation of this acclaimed miniatures wargame! Without the calculations and measurements required for a tabletop game of Field of Glory, the PC version accurately represents Ancient and Medieval combat where you make the important and fun decisions on the battlefield. This forum also supports the Rise of Rome, Storm of Arrows and Immortal Fire expansions to Field of Glory.

Usual external download of 1.30 patch, please

Post by Hertston »

Am trying to install IG to find FoG insists on an update to 1.3 (from 1.28/9) beforehand, the download of which has now failed twice, then resets and is slow as h*ll to boot. The beta was just fine, indeed as the IG download is so much bigger THAN the 1.29 beta I don't understand why I need to download an equally sized patch as well in the first place!

Come somebody PLEASE just stick the 1.30 patch in their normal downloads section with the usual installer ?!

Ta muchly.

Hi Hertston,

Unfortunately we don't have a separate 1.30 update as yet. For now the only route is to use the auto-update within the game. I think the server for that is getting hammered with the release, it should improve shortly.

The upgrade experience was atrocious. I do hope you consider keeping an external patch or seriously upgrade the update server. It took me a couple tries and I know several people who had to retry many times before it was done. Very frustrating.

Hi guys,

We are working on an external update, but it will probably not be available until next week. The auto-update server was not able to handle the load as well as we expected, so we will be making sure to provide external updates as well.

Sounds good Erik. The in-game updater is a great idea but if it doesn't work well, then it subtracts from the game, not add to it. So until the issues are worked out, I think it would simply be good customer service to offer an external version at the same time.

I think that the in-game updater is great. You don't have to save a file and install it. And you don't have to be putting in serial numbers. It has worked fine for me. Simple and easy. I like it!!

The installers are never going to be up to date with the in game updates as they take so much longer to test and prepare but Hexwar are looking for ways to make it more reliable. For anyone who had issues it's probably worth trying again now the initial rush is over.
