Norton is saying sotp is a security threat

Post by axisandallies »

Help, this game downloads just fine but when I run it, Norton says that sotpexe.run is a security threat and then it tells me that it removed it for me. That is why when I select play sotp nothing happens. Can you help me?

I'm not sure how does Norton works exactly, but IIRC in my NOD32 I'm able to choose which programs are secure.

If this is with regard to our installer, Norton is definitely having a false alarm there. We don't have Norton here but as Doomtrader said you should be able to tell it to ignore certain folders or files. The only other option is to contact Norton and ask them to fix this false positive in their next data file update.

I'm running Norton Internet Security 2010. It didn't flag anything when I installed SoP (from Gamersgate), nor when I'm running it.

Had this problem - go to security history and find the quarantine section. Select SoP and then options and you can restore it. Seems to have started now. The problem is it is new - we are amongst the first 10 people to try to run it!

Norton says everything is a security threat. I regret the day I uninstalled McAfee.

Now Norton seems to think SOP is attacking it directly! When I tried to launch a saved game it is CTDing - Norton suggestst that it is trying to access something ending in: ccsvchst.exe in their security engine. Any ideas?

What I can say is that the Storm over the Pacific is 100% safe. We are always checking the file with latests version of NOD 32 from ESET.

I just googled for the ccsvchst.exe phrase, and it looks like this file makes pretty lot of problems.
Take a look here: http://www.exe-error-fixes.com/fix-ccsv ... -shutdown/
