Alpha Test Late War Scenario-1944/45
I was wondering since we have seen several AAR's done for the early campaign, and one incomplete one for '43, if we can have a nice detailed one from the Germans starting from Operation Bagration to the end of the war and see if it plays along side its historical equivelent.[:D] Might as well see if you have any bugs near the end of the war.[:D]
RE: Alpha Test Late War Scenario-1944/45
Better yet, perhaps, the 1943 battles for Kharkov. You have Manstein plus both sides playing offence and defence. This could really showcase the game.
RE: Alpha Test Late War Scenario-1944/45
Unfortunately the time scale with weekly turns doesn't fit to depicture shorter battles like Charkow.
This lack of flexibility is the only shortcoming for WitE I can see so far.

RE: Alpha Test Late War Scenario-1944/45
The 44-45 campaign is towards the back of the queue in terms of being "locked" and ready for worthwhile testing. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that a testable version will be available in 3-4 weeks time, but I don't know whether a tester who wants to do a public AAR will be assigned.
I hope my recent AAR shows that it is possible to move from defence to attack during the winter. I don't know if the "Back Hand Blow" is on the official list of scenarios for the launch of the game, but I am sure it will be high on the list of user produced scenarios once people get their hands on the editor.

It's only a Game

I think Operating Bagration would be a great showcase for the AI as the Soviets, as well as a wonderful challenge for the German player.

RE: Alpha Test Late War Scenario-1944/45
okay, this is not a AAR, but will show some stuff from the 44-45 campaign
as normal, this is a WIP, so, any and everything can change
I am really looking for two bugs that I had reported that got fixed, and wanted to see how it worked, and need a late war battle to see them in action
and, don't expect much, will post what I can, as I go along
ask questions if you want, it makes it easier to post stuff
the starting OOBs

RE: Alpha Test Late War Scenario-1944/45
oddly, I looked over the map and made some early battle plans, but then when I got closer in, that kind of got changed, most of my troops are Static, so it is going to take me some time to get my Armies on the move
sooooo
plan to try and drive the Fin's out of the war, cripple AGC, and get some of my troops ready to move
thinking I will try to free up some of my southern troop, and go to work on the Romy, and hope the rest, pin the Axis in place
here is one of my air raids I am planning on sending out, got some good planes now

RE: Alpha Test Late War Scenario-1944/45
first two raids I hit some Fin airfields, and was able to overwelm there defences, then got cocky, and went after the LW field, that kind of hurt, I did damage in return, but, it hurt, needless to say, I am not going to go hunting from the LW where they are looking for me, got to get them into my playfield, to have a better chance of doing something
I got a lot of Arty now, so, get to mass Arty Div's behind the front line and add them to the battles, I drive some of the Fin's back from the front line, above Leningrad, and make some ground out east (what I want, is to force a hole above Leningrad, and then cut off the east, before they can pull back)
AGC, I free up some of my northern troops for next turn, and drive some of the Germans back, get some armor on the move and make a couple of small pockets
on the Ge Turn, they pull back where they can, battle my Partisans, but I blow a number of raillines, so they did damage, my small pockets trap 7 divs or so, many more fight free, but in doing so, set them selfs up for a bigger pocket, if I can hold it
my small pockets force the LW to come into my arena, and the losses to the bombers and tranny's trying to drop supplies is nasty and makes up for my earlier losses to the LW, I will bleed out the LW bomber force, quickly, if this keeps up
my turn 2, is like before, I push north and drive the Fins before me, do more damage to AGC, trap 17 divs in a couple of pockets, if they can hold

they are in for a big hurt, but the Germans have already started there 2nd line, so will be ready for the next push, after I mop up, but those mop up's got to hurt

as I said/planned, the Eastern Fin's are in trouble, still got a chance to break out, but they going to have to leave there main line of defence to escape, and some are going to be left behind, and easy pickings for next week

here may be something we don't really show, I got a nice Armor group here, but, it can't get anywhere, so, I need to make a hole for it to pass though (and Russian Armor is more for exploit, then for breakthough)

Thanks for the late war screenshots.
Is that horde of German construction battalions real, or some bug with the screenshot?

Wow. What's up with those Soviet engineering brigades? Some of those look tougher than rifle corps!
