20 to 24th February

The more interesting thing here is a raid  launched by 2 carriers near Perth. INTEL has identified them as Akagi and Kaga. They sank several auxiliary ships and two TKs (auch!!), but, overall, no damage bad enough to be concerned. It's attacks against port doesn't have had too much effect, and no less than 5 Vals have been downed by AA. Forti3 helps, I think.

It's Submarine Warfare has gone better:

I-17 sank AS FULTON. I25 to the xAP PRESIDENT MADISON and xAK GANDERA. My SS got lot of duds... [:@][:@][:@]

DEI

One aussie brigade is about to arrive at Sumatra, and another is on it's way. One of each 6 and 7 AIF.

I'm pulling out cadres of useful units from Bataan ( 803 EAB and Asiatic Fleet ) to be rebuilt at Java. The 803, plus the Aussie Engineer corps ( in route to Java, too ), will be VERY useful to rise up my fortis...

BURMA

Rahaeng and Tisaotso has been taken by one of my Burmese bons, but a Tank Regiment arrived VERY fast (at two days) and cripple my unit. It will be destroyed by sure :( .

OTHERS

Nothing of interest, but the buildup of Luganville as base. Several LCU are there defending and improving the base. Now, every unit I'll received, will be send to Pago (if asigned to South Pacific) or Brisbane (if asigned to South West Pacific ) . I need more sqns..grrr...

May 1942.

"Peaceful" days....the storm is near... I can even feel it ( don't laugh too much if u read the other AAR and it's the opposite xDD ).

I mean the japanese offensive is coming ( I think ). Intel signal lot of naval activity at Truk (K.B.) Logical movement should be go to Java to support the attack. With several british and Aussie troops reinforcing Sumatra, Palembang can be a TOUGH nut to crack. One aussie brigade has arrived, and an engineer corps is about to arrive too. Several xAPs ready to pull out cadres ( I really HATE lose LCUs [;)] ).

The two carriers striking Perth have vanished. Where will they go ? There is a lot of merchant traffic on this zone....hummm... Well. We'll see...

More troops have arrived at WC, and 2nd Marine Regiment is ready to Pago Pago. Soon a whole Marine division will be there and this base will be untouchable [:)]. I would like put here 1 bomber group plus one fighter group but I'm short of airframes, so some Cats and end..

INCOMING CARRIER BATTLE !!!

8th March 1942, and, since the beggining of the month, the Akagi and Kaga raid Perth and go all overt the south of Australia, to attack my convoys. One of them were sank near Tasmania.

What he didn't know was that my four carriers were moving at stealth move to intercept then. Even the damaged U.S.S. YORKTOWN has made the EPIC sailinf of move from P.H to Noumea and then to Tasmania, without gaining one pint of flooding DMG. She is at 14 since one month ago...

AND AT THE MORNING 8th MAY, his carriers launched several air attacks against my carriers.

Dunno the english word. In spanish the word I have to this is: Empotrarse. (crashed/embedded).

First strike: 11 Zeros, 9 Vals and 21 Kates against 90 Fighters: 1 F4F-3 Lost. 14 Kates and 5 Vals lost.

Second strike: 13 Vals: 9 Destroyed.

Third strike: 9 Zeros plus 16 Kates: 1F4F-3 lost to 9 Kates and 1 Zero.

EXCELLENT !!!

And tomorrow, SBDs from 4 US Carriers will fly and (with a little of luck) will sank the enemy carriers...

Every plane capable of recon is on the air at 100% ratio.... Several sqn at Tasmania will provide intel. Besides, one "last card" is sailing to Perth, just is case.

**********************************************************************************************

On the other hand: Several xAKL sank triying to bring supplies to Bataan :( . Some LCUs dead by attrition and attacks :( .

Singapore holds: My 1.000 AV against 1.900 is no match with Forti4. 70k supplies on hand.

One Aussie Brigade is at Oosterhaven, with the desert rats.

One Aussie engineer corps is at Java to improve the forts.

One US fighter group is now at India, training for active duty at Burma.

One huge convoy has arrived at Suva. Once unloaded, it'll be VERY difficult to take. No less than 2/3 divisions required...

****************************************************************************************************

Several SS at rear bases completed their repairs. LOT of skippers removed and reasigned. I expect a lot from this guys.

Dutch Harbour heavy reinforced. No AF but fort3. With Kodiak and Anchorage, will be my only 3 bases at N.P. til 2nd part of 1942.

Turn sent... we'll see what we get.

No one has sighted the enemy carriers... Damn....Every B-17 at OZ is making naval search missions...even Wirraways are doing it !!!

3 xAKs lost to IJN SS in a pretty much tense turn... If they manage to escape...well... I will be REALLY dissapointed...

Look for holes in your search arcs. I think there is a key where you can see them all at once. May be on the Strat map. My guess is he raced due west at flank speek

It sounds like that to me too. He must have realized that things were not going well for him. Very nicely done!

Flank speed in Southern Australia waters is a luxury for IJN.. It´s a posibility, of course, but then this could be a price if he has not enough fuel to return home. His fleet is so far of the nearest naval base available with fuel to replenish his carriers. Another option that he has replenishment fleet oilers nearby their carriers, but this is not sure waters to move freely.

Best Wishes,
ramón

11/3/1942

Another day without sighting them. Decision has been taken, and some unortodox measures has been ordered. I hope they are there...hiding from my carriers.

And, surprise, surprise. KB stikes P.H. !!!

Pffff... No sense... He caught one of my convoys ( empty ). Has sank 1 PC, 8-10 xAKs and put some bombs to 3 of my BBs at dockyard...

Cost: 41 B5N1 and B5N2.  With the PRECIOUS pilots...

My fighters and bombers will take off tomorrow and STRIKE his carriers. It will be a massacree but even 1 hit deseves it. 6 SS were at P.H. resting and and have take attack possitions all over the zone.

At Philipinas: Sad news as Bataan and Malaybalay fallen today to two deliberate attacks. It's lack of suplies really cripple them.. Oh, well.

Another deliberate at Singa has put forts at lvl3. I'm plenty of supplies so, by the moment, I'm not concerned.

After two uneventful days, today, the AVG has achieved another victory: 3 Vals, 8 Lily and 3 Sallys downed when trying to bombard unescorted chinese troops.. Excellent !!!

Besides, FF acting at long range bombarded JOLO where destroyed several transport planes, including valuable H6K4-L Mavis...

Unfortunately the SS Grayling sank by heavy DMG from previous attack. My second lost :(

Hummm... I'm running in a very bad luck, one TF spotted near Perth ( probably oilers from the CVs which escaped ) evaded some of my TFs. Looks like it will be very difficult find a TF in the middle of the ocean...

100th turn !!!

Well, only jus about 1200? turns remains [:D]

15/3/1942

Interesting turn where the SS Warfare comes back to front line:

SS POLLACK hit AMC KINRYU MARU with 1 torpedo.

SS S-43 puts 1 torpedo at DD YUDACHI. Excellent.

PG CHARLESTON launchs a raid at Otkosh (sp?) and find some valuable targets ( namely, two convoys ). In a fierce combat he gets the following results:

xAK TAZAN MARU: 1 hit. Heavy fires.
xAK TYOYO MARU: 4 hits. Heavy fires. Heavy damage.
xAK KAIMEI MARU: 2 hits. Heavy fires.
PB URUBOKO MARU: 4 hits. Heavy fires. Heavy damage.
PB SUREBOKO MARU: 4 hits. On fire.
xAK YAMAHAGI MARU: 2 hits. On fire.
    xAK TAIGEN MATU: 1 hits.

Command to PG Charleston is made way back to Dutch Harbour to replenish. :) Good hunting.

My CVs are heading back to P.H., at slowly pace ( oh, my, fuel, FUEL!). Timely for 4/42 upgrades !!!

Some air assets reasignead at San Diego. Hummmm...I don't know what to do about my air groups....Several OOB-rework in progress !!!

Oooh, boy !!! GREAT mistake by my side: A deliberate attack at Hanchow meet unexpectad opositon. Plus fortis6 result at 13.000 casualties. 203 combat squads destroyed. Ok, guys. Time to FORGET any offensive for several months. Pfff...I'm very upset with myself...

On the bonus side, a successful ambush over Singapore has been a HUGE SUCCESS:

for 3 fighters I have downed: 23 Lilys, 22 Sallys, 15 Nells (altough combat report shows only 8 ) and 4 Bettys...  Yep: 64 bombers for 3 fighters. Fantastic !!!

STRATEGIC WARFARE

PG CHARLESTON hits another two xAKs with less effects, as her main batteries are out of ammo:

 xAK TAIGEN MARU: 3 hits.
 xAK HOKUKAI MARU: 2 hits.

Not bad....
