New 1.08I Patch

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

If you got to ageod's site/forum you can get the very latest 1.08K patch, but I've no idea if it's compatible with the version Matrix sells. FWIW, it works fine on my copy bought from Impulse.

I think I'm missing something. Just got the gold version. Went to ageod-broke link and then was linked to a good download. My question is, how do I know which version I have? It says v1.0.8 no letter.

Looks like 1.0.8i is a higher version.  Downloaded form Softpedia link above and installed over my Matrix version.
Ageod link is dead. It's because they have the 1.0.8k patch.

Here's the link. http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=18147
Let me try this out.

Excellent-I have been waiting for this one. Multiplayer games are "a comin".

So far so good. Enjoy the multiplayer and report me any problem. My advice is to save regularly and play not too fast (helps the game not loosing synchro in actions).

Has anyone experienced performance issues with this latest official patch?

BTW, are the new patches cumulative, or do I need to install all of them after 1.08?

The latest is all-inclusive so you only need that one to update.

EDIT: There is a single-core mode you can run it in, IIRC, on the start menu. Some people have better luck with it.

I only had to lower the mouse sensitivity. Though screen movement will be a bit choppy due to the huge amount of map graphics, it's playable for me.

I have a dual core processor w/2 Gigs of RAM, but I suspect that my 256 MB hypermemory card is being taxed to the max with all these maps and erratia; I changed the units to 2D squares, but I will try adjusting the mouse sensitivity (in the options menu?).

Are there any other options I can turn down? There seems to be a great deal of colors and text on top innserted into the interface, but isn't that what filters are for?

Not any options I've noticed to turn down the resource usage.

I suspect the biggest drain is that each of the map provinces are in bitmap format, so the file sizes are much larger than most other formats. It's likely the reason it takes so long to load into an actual game because it's packing that humongous bitmap map into memory, along with all the other game files.

I would recommend only using the square pieces to represent units as the pseudo-3D ones not only may cause slowdown, I always found it difficult to make out against the dark map background, notably from a zoom out view.

Though there's a how-to and example mod of raising the gamma on all the map files so that they're lighter colored and easier to see, over at the AGEOD WWIgold mod forum. I believe he has also lowered the color depth the 256 which lowered the files size a little bit, though I thought the 2.5x gamma was up too far on his so I manually adjusted mine to 1.5x but kept the color depth. Anyway, you might check into messing with changing color depth on them.

Did AGEOD use this format for provinces in BoA, WiA and Blue & Gray?

I don't have my AACW installed but I checked my Rise of Prussia and the map regions are in tiny 4KB .rgn file format - program specific obviously. Whereas WWIgold regions are anywhere from 77KB to 11MB for the 'Irish Sea' alone. That's a massive difference.

Likely the reason for the huge load time for it. Very easy to mod, though.
