CHS: Aden Fuel & Oil

Post by tocaff »

I'm playing CHS and have sent shipping to Aden to help supply India. Loading supplies is no problem and I can refuel ships from the port. BUT, I can't load fuel or oil. Why? I'm using TKs in a TK TF and the oil and fuel areas are grayed out. What am I missing?

For fuel, that's strange.
For oil, do you have at least 1 resource point in the base?

Every time I try to form a cargo or tanker TF it shows as a transport TF instead.

HELP!

This is out of control.  Any TF that I create anywhere; cargo or tanker (I haven't tried amphibious or replenishment yet) becomes a transport TF.

I can only load supplies at Aden.  No troops, oil or fuel.  The troops are not restricted as they're reinforcements attached to the SE Asia Command.

What gives?  This is a game breaker.

i only play CHS in my PBEM - and i play the Allies. i haven't run into what you've described. i load supplies, oil, troops without a problem.

What scenario(s) are you playing? Were the problems apparent from the beginning, or did they show up later?

I didn't notice this immediately as I was on the run (literally).  The game is about 2 1/2 weeks in now.  As the Allied player this kills the game.

I'm using CHS 2.08 + Nik mod.

i suspect something wasn't loaded correctly... you might want to try reloading the CHS (save your game files).

But FIRST - try starting a new test (head to head) game and see if things work ok in loading TFs. If they don't, then try reloading CHS. (If it DOES work, i think you are talking a corruption in the game files).

Once reloaded, try loading your TFs again in a new test game. If that doesn't work, something weird is going on.

If it DOES work, then try loading your original games and see if things work once you have reloaded CHS.

OK, will do a new install later today as it's a cool, windy and rainy one anyway.  I hope it's just a corrupted file as the alternative would be losing the game.

Well, remember to check and start a new Head to head game to see if loading works before doing a reinstall...

Didn't work HtoH and after a reinstall of WITP (patches too) Andrew Brown's 2 maps (proper sequence) and then CHS it still doesn't work.

DUH!  I feel really stupid, but at least I got it working now.  I didn't manually load the extended map.

Now my frustration level knows no bounds.  Every time I try and access a ship disbanded in the port of Darwin the game crashes.

i assume this is in your PBEM game? Not a problem i've run into, but my PBEM partner mentioned he was having some similar kind of problem using Windows 7, iirc.

If it is ONE particular ship, i've seen this happen with corrupted art files... if the file for that ship (or aircraft) is corrupted, when you click on it the game crashes... you can reload art files and usually get it to work.

Otherwise, you might try automatic convoy formation - i don't usually mess with that, but it might be a workaround.... several attempts might be needed.

Nah the 2 ships in question are in sinking condition and I was going to scuttle them.  It's no big deal.  I let let them ride out the entire war or my opponent can sink them, no difference to me.

That's the same problem my opponent had, and, iirc, it was also in Darwin... (except he plays the IJ side)... every time he went to scuttle the ships, the game crashed.

What OS are you using? he seemed to think it was something to do with his receent Windows 7 upgrade (iirc).

OK - so maybe this is a true in-game bug...

I think so.  At least it's something that's not so important.  I wonder why 2 ships and not others though.  Weird.
