Chlanda Map Editor Help Needed:

Post by AbsntMndedProf »

I'm taking my first bash at using the Chandla map editor to change a map of Matla for a PBEM game. The problem I'm having is when I try to open an existing SP:WaW map in the editor, all that comes up is a large blue field. (Lots of water?) I need to use the map editor to move the British line of deployment back, so that the British units deploy on land, not in barges in the lower middle of the map, opposite the invading German barges. Any help with this would be great! Thanks!

Can't help you on this one, but Crete and Malta left the Deep South via snail mail today.

The blue screen (well, you see it's not only Microsoft causing headaches with its blue screen of death ;) ), is because the program do not know where to look for the shp files needed to "build" the map in the editor.
so what you have to do first, is to click on "file" menu, then choose "set shp directory", then look for the "shp" folder within the main spwaw folder and open it.
Then select one (anyone, it does not matter which) of the .shp files and then click "open", then close the window.
You're done, come back to the main screen of chandla editor and open again your map, it should work now.

Ok, I've done the shp directory thing, and I can pull up the map. Now I seem to be waaaaay out of my depth here. I'm seeing the map, but I have no idea how to change anything. (Is there any way to define set-up lines?) I have managed to turn the hexes on and off. :D

If I am not mistaken you can change the blue/green deployment flags in the game map editor??

I found the button that changes the direction each side starts from, but could not find a way to move the start lines. (I'm probably missing something.)

Try page 136 in the manual, in the lower left corner of the deployment screen buttons is a button with a double green flag.
This is used to change the blue/green deployment flags. This only works in the scenerio editor.

Hope this helps.:D

To change the start lines go into the scenario editor but do not click on the edit map button. What you need to do is click on one of the deploy buttons for either side under the buy button. This area is where you can change victory hex criteria, start lines and a bunch of other things you might normally think wold be done under the map editor. Hope this helps.
