There are copies of it all over the place. Any XP machine should have several copies (of various versions). The problem is that it doesn't seem to work on a Win98 machine.

Sure - but this unofficial Win98 update (from the link of my previous post) is specificially made to work with the incooperated version of GDIplus. And surely newer versions of this .dll won't work in Win98 even with this update.

However I don't know which version of GDIplus.dll is required for the 3.4 patch. On my Win7 machine i have version 5.2.7600

Well, i'll try on a virtual machine once 3.4 is out and let sPzAbt653 know.
(Apart from the fact that his machine can easily run a Winxp...)
With a bit of work, I got a version to work on Win 98, but only after I changed the code to not check the copy protect scheme, so take this with a grain of salt.

I tried using a program called 'Legacy Extender' at the obvious web site. It also requires linking to their library, and once I did that, it broke the copy protection. I emailed them, but didn't get an answer. You might try just running editversion and see if that's sufficient for Win 98, but I don't think it will be enough.

My old dev machine was a P4, so I know it will run on a P4.

Instead of XP, it also might be possible to install a Linux version(Please start a new thread on this if someone is interested.) I haven't used Linux in years, so I don't know how difficult a kernel is to set up/run or how compatible it is with Windows 98, so I don't know if it would be harder/easier than an XP kernel.

Does TOAW 3 run in Windows 7 and will TOAW 4 work in this system. [:)]
The short answer is 'Yes.' I'm developing on Windows 7. TOAW 4 will require a better system than the Windows XP 256 Meg system, but I would hope it will still run on a netbook class machine. I'm hoping that TOAW 4 will use the graphics card more, and be faster because of it, but I don't think the requirements will be too crazy.
