What the F?

Post by alejes0202 »

OK. I used foul language to get you to look. Here's the deal--a lot of war gamers are posting complaints on this forum about this product BEFORE THEY HAVE PLAYED THROUGH A CAMPAIGN. I finished the North Africa campaign and am hooked. Here's the 411--the details they keep whining about are built into the game engine itself. DO YOU REALLY THINK real tank commanders in WW2 checked out the "chance to penetrate" chart before they ordered "fire?" Of course not. Target acquired, "fire!" This game has all that built in already. You don't have to shuffle through sub-menus to determine if it's a good idea to pull the trigger. INTUITIVE is the word here folks! If you think you can pull a rear shot, yank the lanyard. If you're staring at the bow MG, probably best to rethink.

Forget to lay down the artillery barrage before assaulting the village? Well, YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE! AND, THIS GAME WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU DESERVE!

OK. I've been in this hobby for a long time (almost 40 years, but who's counting!?) and I recognize an elegant design when I see one. Battlefield Academy allows you to focus on strategy and the proper use of combined arms without worrying about the minutiae. So, whiners, I'm tired of reading your ill-founded complaints. Enjoy the product for what it is--a war game that requires you to think rather than consult. This is a gem. Enjoy.

And they can't realize realism without tons of tables...?

I'm just loving this title for a lot of reasons. There's a lot under the hood, whether you want to mod it or not. Looks good with a lot of flair and personality. Those last two are missing in most wargames. And it's not as "light" as it seems. OpBarb is much lighter, IMO.

I wish I liked FoG this much, considering what I spent on the expansions...

That puts me closer to buying this game. I have FoG and all three expansions and it is a simple no frills game but fun for the right mood. I also have OpBarb and don't play it very much.

I know you love to mod games so this should be a real good toy for you. [;)]

I find it to be a "one more turn" game because it is not tedious.

+1 on the solo German campaign. I'm so close to squeezing the trigger on buying but I want to play both sides.

Just played a battle where my Tiger stalled twice, missed everything it shot at, even easy shots, ran and hid like a coward and got owned and surrendered in the end.

Those waiting for a solo German campaign likely won't have long to wait, as long as someone feels like making it by hand themselves.

Frankly I have not even touched the campaigns in several days of constant playing.
I have had up to 11 games going at the same time. I don't have time for lame solo for the AI.

If you can post here, you can go online.
If you can go online, you can be playing vs a person.
If you can play vs a person, you can get your Germans you so desperately seem to need.

Maybe you're afraid of a real challenge?
Play 10 opponents if you want more than 1 turn or 3 in a day.
Played for about 12 solid hours the other day.

There is no argument that's going to work in this game for pouting and demanding a solo AI game when it is NOT needed.

I don't think Slitherine will need to release a single expansion for this game.
So those saying 'I'll wait', good luck, I think you are going to wait a long.
Aside from some tweaks they can offer as updates, Slitherine has already done their job.

I'm willing to now say I likely will be promoting this game to the best game ever. Including Steel Panthers.
The Slitherine server provides fast simple to use competition with other gamers.
And it appears to be a lot more 'secure' than any other process I have ever used.

Probably just saved several gigs of hard drive here, as I think a handful of games just got uninstalled. Why waste space on second place eh. In the realm of squad level tactical, there is now no room for anything else.

And I can now say I don't care if Battlefront ever releases Combat Mission Normandy.
I won't need to even care about the eLicense garbage.
I've got a better game to play.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Yes you simply stop coming and ignore it.

Was that what you meant?

You do seem to be having trouble with simple explanations is why I ask.

Hi Les,

Your last few posts here have been argumentative and not civil in tone. We can all discuss the game and our likes and dislikes without getting personal or making assumptions about other posters. I'm glad you enjoy the game, now please relax and keep your posts civil.

To be clear, it's comments like these that make folks want to ignore you and I don't want anyone leaving this forum (as you also suggested) because they'd rather not read your posts.

"you can get your Germans you so desperately seem to need.

"pouting and demanding a solo AI game when it is NOT needed."
