3.4 beta - Foreign languages and Equipment.eqp

Post by Telumar »

I thought i'd post here to be more likely to get Ralph's or Bob's attention. Two things:

1) I have updated the DeutschGame.xml that came with 3.4 beta. Some things have not been translated and i did a few cosmetic changes. Can i send it to Ralph or Bob without getting lost among other mails?

2) When playing TOAW in another language than English the equipment is still displayed in English.

I already realized why:

The equipment.eqp in TOAW's Graphic folder. If one removes or renames this file the equipment will be displayed in the proper language.

Do i really need the equipment.eqp? 3.2 worked without, but this had certain disadvantages when changing from a scenario which used a special equipment file to a standard scenario. Also i know this file is needed for external equipment/scenario etc editors.

Telumar,
You're right. I didn't test it well enough. It was intended to correct the issue that we have with changing between a scenario that has a different eqp file and one that doesn't. Please go ahead and delete or rename it. I'll see why it's doing that for the release patch.

I'll send you in the next few days, still trying to optimize it.

I found more. String 4812 t="PNG_SUPPORT_STRING" and 4813 is not properly translated in all foreign language versions (don't know about chinese, though [:D] and as long as OdB is the polish abbreviation for OOB..). It still displays the old text "Next unit follows OOB order" which btw has disappeared to the toaw3.ini file and is set to Y.
