Another interesting turn; interesting and different!
The challenge with surrounding the enemy troops is that a strong LCU will cut of any tank regiment we send to surround them with.
- Allied airpower can crush a regiment in one attack in the open and we've seen how impossible it is for us to supply our troops north of Mandalay.
If Andy marches his troops from Shwebo to Mandalay he may overextend and not be able to supply his troops, so I'm not sure he'll do so.
Maybe he will march his Mandalay Army into Shwebo instead? This would mean admitting defeat for now.
If he does combine his Armies in Mandalay we will face ~5000 AV there instead of ~3000 AV.
So shouldn't we attack as soon as possible and try to rout the troops in Mandalay?
- If this succeeds we have the option of marching over the river and shock attack the weakened enemy army there when we have built our strength.
In a week we got the 8th Area Army, the 11th division and a regiment arriving in Rangoon.
A defeat of the enemy in Shwebo means he will retreat back towards Myitykina and it should be possible to pursue even thought I don't think this will be doable
because of supply problems and defensive terrain modifiers in the jungle.
It's a long way to victory, so let's see what the next days will bring!
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Nov 20, 42
Surface Combat
Right, talk about bad luck; I've been planning a KB sortie into the Central Pacific and what happens?
An Allied AMC runs into our supply train by chance...perfect, the only advantage is that Andy will stop all convoys from the East Coast for
an undetermined time to come....
Both TFs avoided combat, the AMC is probably carrying troops.
