SkiTroops

Post by AngryDeemon1 »

What are the advantages of ski troops? The disadvantages?

Are they more vulnerable to machinegun fire? less likely to go prone/in cover?

Thanx in advance

Well, for one thing they're faster than regular infantry in snow. :p

He went on a rant about ski troops in one thread that had me laughing. Seems he doesn't hink they're worth much. I haven't used them, but that may change soon because one of my Core units is heading into the Russian winter.

What do they do for you besides moving faster in snow?

Oh yeah, they won't assault either.

(think our green-skinned friend got that point through in his thread...)

They make pretty good 'road bumps'. (Kinda like Soviet Militia)

An interesting side-bar to this discussion, when I set up a campaign with the U.S. Army against the Germans starting in June, 1944, I get a D-Day battle to start, and the Germans almost always have ski troops on the beaches. (Is there such a thing as sand skis?):D

There are rock skis, or early season, or east coast skiing skis;), if you like. In college I had a brand new pair and on my first run in November I went over a rock and ripped a hole in the bottom all the way down to the base. On the bright side, I had myself a new pair of rock/sand/mud skis.
