RE: Shwebo falls
Congratulations [:)]. However, the front looks like a bit a "trench warfare" ala 1914....
RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!

ps supplies are simply shocking....XV Corps is all out Bur Corps is int he red now I need an admin pause to re assess whether or not I can sustain this force in Burma in the dry season never mind the monsoon
Nope, I had the same experience. Whatever, they have done in the patches has "fixed" supply in Burma. As far as I can see, an overland attack from India is very difficult without major air transport assets. Even two hexes away from my built up base in North India, my units went hungry, and it was the dry season.

RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
Interesting point to be noted by Allied and Japanese Players as well. With this, Offensive war all over Burma will be VERY difficult to carry prior 1944...
RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
Int eh last three days I have lost over 120 aircraft my core bombing force is still intact but my fighters and perirephal types are struggling
Supply is low and i am moving out of the pocket.
My plan is to concentrate Burma Corps at Shwebo.
Pull c 2 Divs out fo XV Corps to reinforce BurCorps and then pull XV Corps back to india to refit
I will then close down Burma until after the next monsoon.
I clearly need to build up all the bases and stockpile supplies before future offensives would have a chance at success

RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
I rested the entire Burma Air Force today had no choice the fatigue level was getting extreme
In other news the RNZN could have just saved a lot of lives today.
I love AMC's for long range middle of no where patrols they have the endurance and seaworthiness to loiter a long time on long run patrol zones, Its actually the perfect role for them
I deployed my remaining ones to cover the southern and northern appraches around PH had no choice while the Japanese hold the Line Islands - today the Kiwis found the Jap fleet train which means KB is at sea
I have 5 Carriers at Pearl and they will take to sea in 24 hours to see what we shall see....

RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
Andy, from reading your recent posts it looks as though you are contemplating abandoning Schwebo as well. Is this right? I can understand the difficulty of keeping troops supplied but I would argue that holding Schwebo through the Monsoon would be of incalculable value next year. Might you gain better results from using your bombers to ferry supplies also?
Some of the American four-engined bombers can ferry supplies from afar and bring in 7 or 8 tons each. 50 of them should give a not inconsiderable boost to your supplies in Burma - 8 x 50 = 400 tons per day = 12,000 tons per month. That's enough to keep about 4 divisions in combat throughout the month. RAF bombers may not have quite those loads but enough of them will still get the job done and it might be a better use of your resources than seeing them shot down over IJAAF bases en masse.
I might have misunderstood your intentions though... I think though you really should try to keep a foothold in Burma. Next year gaining ground here without a foothold will be even more difficult than it currently is.

Well, that's that settled then.

RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
No I am trying to hang onto Shwebo.
I agree its vital.
I will need more AA Guns to secure the base and I have 3 more Sqns of C47's en route which will lift me up to nearly 200 transport aircraft.
I have lots of hurdles to overcome but I need to pull out the XV Corps they are stuck at mandalay without a secure retreat path
One Bde has been shattered already and will need to be evacced to India other units are in trouble.
De facto I have enough combat power to hold the plains for next season but I am low on supplies.
I need to get these bases built up ASAP.
Today I had a total screw up I stood down everything but misses my Blenheim Group and they suffered badly - never do a turn when tired...it was a mistake pure and simple and cost me 30 Blenheims.
If I can hold Shwebo and the Arakan through the next monsoon I will be in great shape for the battles to come next year.

RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
lol not sure if I won or lost this one... I achieved the objective which was secure more bases in Burma and secure Arakan, atttrit his AF and generally make a nuisance of myself. After I realised how many troops he had Rangoon was never on the cards but at least I have secured a jumping off spot for my late 43 offensive.
I now have a year to dig in and get my supply net ready for that attack while rebuilding my AF.
After PZB chnaged tack to arttritional air warfare I was always going to lose it took him long enough to do it allowing me to destroy c 400 Tojo's along the way.
It cost me but overall I think I am pleased. I can now hold on at Shwebo building forts and AF and other bases behind the lines re train my AF and generally prepare.
My gut tells me this offensive was a win all I secured was Katha and Shwebo but along the way I secured Myktina and Arakan and managed to destroy some of his AF without getting my own totally destroyed.
But now is thr right time to call it off Mandalay is never going to fall and I need to rotate some units and shift focus.
I need to turn my focus to SWPAC, SOPAC and CENTPAC for a while without letting PZB realise I have done so

RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
Sorry guys been really busy at day job.
Lots happening KB raids along the map edges miles from anywhere but runs into an AO convoy.
Lots of small battles in the deep south pacific.
Front is stabilising in Burma I will begin rotating units back to India soon.
Apart from that not a lot to say.
I have 6 Fleet CV's and 4 CVE's ready to go hunt KB so that should be interesting.

RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
OK its been quiet last turn I staged an ambush and managed to bag about 30 Japanese aircraft
A good result !!!
I am re organising my Sqns in the Burma and Australian theatres.
In Burma about 50% of all sqns are moving to reserve and training the rest are recieving trained pilots and a full allocation of good aircraft.
P39's are good ambush fighters because if they hit they kill.
In general Burma is going to be about hit and run for a while.
I am slowly re deploying good aircraft back to Australia and resting the Burma AF.
I am intending to build up AF's on the Australian mainland in order to support my next SWPAC attack on New Guinea.
This offensive is probably 2 months away from being ready

RE: FAA Strikes Back !!!
I will end up with fewer trained sqns with a good reserve of frames and pilots in order to attack in strength de facto I may try another Burma offensive this year not to actually achieve anything but merely to focus his attention on the theatre I want all of his reserves in Burma containing my 2 Corps that will give me a much freer hand elsewhere

Almost sure they build supplies, and supplies are always important. [:D]

RE: Vegas Inspection Trip
Yup PZB today launched a daylight raid on Comilla catching 1 B17 on the ground - no idea why he isnt doing more of this
In last 2 days I lost 4% of my B17 strength
For all the Japanese players out there best place to kill B17's on the ground !!!
I am redeploying within the Burma theatre and also in Australia more to follow after the end of my "inspection" trip....

RE: Vegas Inspection Trip
B-17s have such a so low replacement rate than been remotely closed to the front is an error, I think.
RE: Vegas Inspection Trip
Yep, have to watch those shore bases too as it is way too easy to sneak a bombardment in in AE.
I am the Holy Roman Emperor and am above grammar.

I have to agree with that. The raid he did with KB on Auckland in my game got him 25 heavies. Very painful!
