OK, I'd had a butcher's hook at the manual, I see how you make Tournament Teams now.

One problem, though.

Team 1 is my main team.
Team 2 is my brother's team. He won't appreciate me wiping his team.

So if I want to have a duel with only 2 titans, how exactly do I achieve that, short of backing up my brother's team and reloading it when I'm done testing?

This has always been a bugbear of mine with the HQ module. I'd rather just save the teams as a file called after the team name, rather than have them locked in an order like they are now.

No chance with v1.4.

ToS WS will allow a different order though.

you can change which team is located where in 1.4, however it involves manual movement & renaming of files... get in contact of one of the vets via ICQ and they could prob. help you.

Back when I had v1.2.1, I found I liked the Ice Lord because the Cold Light Gun is an almost perfect balance between the damage of the Tesla Bolt and Heat concerns. It does rather nice damage, hits at short range, and doesnt heat too much. I took the Frost Giant to a new level and made an Assault Titan with four Cold Light Guns, predictably named "Freezer". As I recall, it was pretty decent. I haven't tested it in v1.4, and I'll upload design specs once I'm sure you can put them in v1.4

I made alot of other titans, most of them "specialty", AKA, specially designed for certain things. As I recall, I made a lot of Sniper titans with a bunch of Gauss Cannons on them (The perfect sniping cannon, great range, great dmg, great accuracy, heat/reload is a bit of a problem, and weight...) They kicked ***... Ill find my best ones and upload them. :)

Don't forget that the CLG just dies against a shield. Check out the v1.4 Banshee, it originally had 5 CLGs, I traded one for a TB to drop the opponent's shield. The Annihilator also had 5 GCs at one time, but it went back to 4 cause of the PU thing.

Yeah, sometimes there's no keeping a good mad scientist down, eh?

Anyway, I thought I had managed to achieve perfection in pessimistic design with the Bait MkIII but I was wrong!

Behold, the Bait Mk IV!!!!
Just as much armour, but now with better systems and (most importantly) better heat management for those times when your lower torso gets scragged in the middle of a burning wood.
Also, longer legs give it the ability to close in on targets quicker, and leg it once it's taken too much damage and needs to head to the edge of the map before the pilot bleeds to death.

(Even the droids bleed! What are they bleeding? Motor Oil?!)

Of course that -5% handling modifier is a real bummer...no fix for that really. *Attempt Failed!* *WHAM!* "Bollocks!"

Hi! I'm new to these boards, though not to the game. Been playing since version 1.1?? (can't recall exactly)...

My personal fav has always been assault titan with jumpjets. Nothing better that a DFA with a 200t titan.

This design worked very well in 1.1 and has worked in every version since with a few changes (won't post exact info...gonna let you try make it - as easy as it is -).

Basicly, it's an assault titan with 5 Gauss cannons (older versions when Gauss was way overpowered and didn't use energy to fire), pretty crappy engine, best heat regulator, best comp, best scanner, no shield, no DCS, no flares, no ECM, best jumpjets and hell of a lot of dullaroy armor.
Each gauss cannon goes with 30 shots.

In the latest version (or when the Gauss started requiring energy to be fired) I changed Gauss cannons to Autocannon 12's. Works like a charm.
Stay back, go stationary and let the enemy eat the bullets. Best scanner allows change to hit bonuses and fills the spare time between reloads.
haven't have a chance to play in network so i don't have any other exp of this than AI as opponent. Works great against AI...last battle today I killed 3 and crippled out of fight 2 titans out of 7 opponents with this titan alone. The ally team killed the crippled ones and then died away leaving me to kill the last ones.
The level of AI was the same rank as my pilots, regular.


I've tried to make many energy weapon based titans, but they don't fit to my playing style at all. I get slaughtered against AI when it's using the same designs... I like cannon weapons the best...then is the flame thrower! I put 11 in one heavy mech and then to close combat. Enemies liked to be shutdown in the frist alpha strike.


IS there any change PPC's would be implemented to the game?? Or some type of Streak Missiles? Small Pulse Lasers would be nice too...

Armor is pretty low, but the 12 AC 4 will shred enemies from all ranges. I use this to snipe enemy from a stationary position most likely in some forest or mountain hex.
Against a three light/medium titan team I made about 1k combat exp per round. Not bad...

I dunno Eko. Against medium and less it's probably money since you're ripping off armour with no problem with 4s. But I think that as soon as you go up against the bigger titans that can carry a heavy payload, and still have the big armour as well, you won't last long at all. You just don't have the armour for it. A couple good knocks on the legs with almost anything delivering over 10 damage and you'll be on your back.

Might be alright if you can get in close quick and start swinging and making concentrated called shots to your oponent, but I don't think this one can get there before you're toasty....then again, I've been wrong before :)

Now with even a big one coming, I can call his legs off and then move to either the head or the place where engine is located.

BTW, I'm playing with a jock with 100% on cannons and assault skill as with 100% scanners and EWF. It's pretty easy to call even from long range.

I tested against 4 small/medium titans and the results were as expected. 2 kills and 1 ejected, one went to almost 0 health and disabled titan. All arounf titan, damage increasing as the target nears:

Well, I'm sure with a maxed out jock it will do just fine, but I never play with superjocks. I like the challenge of the lower levels, and that means not being 100% with all wep types. Usually only about 60-80% in two categories. That's just the way I play tho.

Well, I've worked my jock to near max state, so I kinda want to use him too. Now I should start to train another one and get bigger fights on...we'll see...

I like the Stardust (Dakdakdak!) but the uneven placment of armour worries me a fair bit.

I also agree with The Prince that mixing more than 2 weapon types reduces the titan's usefulness to lower ranking jocks (although it is an ASSAULT titan, I guess).

There's a very minor problem with the StarDust, it is under 180 tons, which means it'll not qualify for random teams. You can only get it in premade teams.
Did you check the Kraken? 11 AC4s and better systems.

About multiple weapon types, don't forget that it also affects the AI's performance, as it'll have more combat skills to develop, which means they'll be lower than if there were less skills needed. The AI *does* use the same rules as players in jock development.

???? under 180 tons don't qualify for random teams????

well, that is my private mech, so AI won't take it ever anyways... actually, that is not a saved design, it's some other mech completely changed. So it's kinda "ordered" work. It's unique. There is only one of them.



And I don't see problems with armor once it's dullaroy now.

The legs are vulnerable place, but this mech is designed to fight in a stationary position, so legs will rarely take damage.

The best point is the firepower at all ranges and about 20 second firing interwalls. The cannons reload in 13 secs and the heat drops to 0 in about that 20 secs. So it's possible 48 damage every 20 seconds. Called shots to CT or where ever the engine is, can take a mech out from long range in about a minute of game time.

I like this mostly for the range. I can start firing at 6 km..
