Yes, he obviously he has small .... feets.
That 75mm looks just a bit too long for a Stug III, but maybe thats the idea of its "upgraded".
But then a StuG III isnt a TD, but an artillery piece.

What do i know,

Rasmus

It's not strictly historical, but that's online games for you [:D] Each vehicle has 4 upgradeable components (or 5 for tanks). Each component usually has 2-5 different options that are unlocked with experience from battles. For instance the StuG III has four gun options.

7.5cm Stuk40 L/43
10.5cm StuH 42 L/28
Pak 39 L/38
7.5cm Stuk42 L/70

The default gun that comes with the StuG is terrible against anything bigger than a T-34 and only really good against A-20 or smaller (and the German equivelents). The 10.5 is pretty good at close range if it's loaded with HE, until they sort the HE shells properly. US tanks should be coming along soon, then hopefully they'll put some proper Brit tanks in instead of just lend lease stuff for the Russian faction.

It still suffers from people taking it far too seriously though, especially as (a) it's free and (b) it's not finished yet. [8|]

Yeah, that gun looks way too long for a StuG. Walloc's picture looks like the Stug with the L70 gun. Same gun as was in the Pzkw IVF2 and later models IIRC.

That game gun looks like a Jagdpanther gun.

StuG's were assault guns (stürmgeschütz), i.e. infantry support, not artillery. The L70 gun made it a serviceable anti-tank weapon.

I would be say its a 75L48, but it could be a L43. Difference is really in the muzzlebreak, identification wise. Actually the Pzkw IVF2 was the last model to use the L43 after that. Pz/StuGs was produced with the L48 apart from the first 200 examples of the Pzkw IVG which had the L43 too.

The picture of Dixies StuGIII looks like it got a 75/L70. StuGIII, never mounted that. Only the Panther and Jadgpz IV/70.

Any how it a game so it goes. Tho i suspect that the recoil on a 75/L70 would be a tad to much for a PzIII chassis in real life, not to mention the 105mm that apparently is an option too.

Kind regards,

Rasmus

Ah, forgot about the L48. That was the gun I was thinking of. What I get for yammering off the top of my head without reviewing the TO&E. [:D]

The StuH42 mounted the 105mm....and it looks like it is on a PzIII chassis.......

Technically, neither as I live in the town where the base is situated. I'm based there though and it's better than people thinking I live in Carterton [:D]

So, the British defence minister Liam Fox has called for a ban on the upcoming Medal of Honor game because you can play as the Taliban in multiplayer.

Now, an Italian-American lobbying group has denounced the new game Mafia II as "racist nonsense" because the Mafia members in it are... Italian-American![X(]

My conclusions:

- Liam Fox needs to get back to actually doing his job, i.e. making short-sighted budget cuts in the British military.

- All lobbying groups everywhere need to be banned.

- I'm definitely buying both Medal of Honor and Mafia II.
