It's obviously a conspiracy.  d00g has taken down the bbs to suppress SLAAKMAN.

I bet goblin conceived this entire plan.  He's the only one dastardly and smart enough to think it up.

Is it bad that I can't understand half of the people posting in this thread?

i think t001001001 maybe referring to his favourite website no longer working and he is unable to contact his friends/colleagues there who appear to administer the site - it appears that in his frustration and exhaustion at trying to contact these friends/colleagues he has decided to post here in an attempt to capture their attention

i dont think its working

I don't know how the place survives w/o my consistent whining [8D]

Well... mostly [8|]

It's a spinoff from this bbs here "Nobody Asked Me, But...." old matrix and wargamer ppl. Private bbs d00g owns. A place to discuss things that won't fly here on a commercial bbs w/ pretty much the same guys. I'm not here to promote it, just wondering why it was gone. But that's the story of it. There used to be a link to it here at matrix.

Why do we get all the looser bots? Bots with posts without links, and bots that fail to make links, hmm, well, clickable.

Someone's posted recently about the idea of linking Pacific War and Carrier Strike, to resolve the battles occurring in the former in the latter. This never (properly) came to pass, but it was an interesting idea. The biggest conceptual problem I think would have been the opportunity for a player talented in one game to dominate the other.

There was also a project, albeit it was supposedly intended to be run by a "Game Master" (much like the good old Dungeon Master I guess) that prepared for the players. If I remember correctly, the high level game was done using TOAW (I or II at that time) and the lower level air and sea combat was done with Harpoon. Can't remember what they intended to use for ground combat. I don't think they got very far with the workload involved in manually linking all this stuff etc, but the idea was interesting.

The idea of having an actual computer system that would be AT/TOAW for the grand scale ground operations, but with leaders of course, HoI style production and research, WitP for the fleets, Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich for Air Ops, and then it zooms into Harpoon and Battle for the Bulge to resolve the actual combat is great, and a grognards perverse dream! If it would actually be possible / enjoyable to play is another question.

I guess WWII Online in some respect addressed this with their High Command guiding the lower level operations in a sense, but compared to what we are talking about here, that was more of a beer and pretzel approach.

You might be thinking of the Global Thunder MBX. See one list of MBX/CPX past and present at http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=8774
