SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

(Note: this is not a 'whine' about scoring. I love SPWAW and want to personally thank Matrix for all their work)

I just finished the fifth battle in the 'Utah to the Rhine' campaign and was able to use the 'save game' option to bring about three different results (yes, I cheat). They were Draw, Marginal and Decisive Victory. I'm sorry to say that there was NO difference in the
amount of repair or troop points that I received at the end of each. Basically, you do just as well with any outcome as far as how your effort effects the next battle.
I was hoping for a reward when uccessful but it doesn't look like the case Image

Good point, Dave. The allotment repair and support points for the next battle have already been picked, no matter how you do.

But on the other hand, if you do poorly and lose a lot of units, then the repair points won't be enough to cover the damage. And when that starts to happen (you are short of units), it really begins to hurt in the battles to come.

Example. I have a draw. I lose 10 tanks. The repair points allow for 7 of them to be replaced. Okay, now I am three tanks short for the next battle. I'm in the hole alredy.

On the other hand, I do well and lose only 3 tanks. Those extra repair points I can now use to upgrade a Sherman 75 to a Sherman 76 and thus I am rewarded for good play.

So, "1,2,3,4,..what the hell am I fighting for?", some left over repair points to make me meaner tougher with better tanks and infantry.

Thanks for the pep talk, "Sgt." Wild Bill! Makes sense to me!
Sergeant to new replacements on the line: I may not have time to tell you to duck, but if you see me dive for the ground you might want to think about why I'm doing it.

The repairing capability, spare parts and reserve troops etc in the area probably won't change if you fight a draw or if you fight a marginal victory. I find it quite realistic. Perhaps, if you suffer major losses your commanders should channel more replacements to your unit.. but overall, i like the system as it is.
